I have exams in 3 months But I Can't Study due to anxiety
@RobloxianX Жыл бұрын
This video saved me. Ever since I started school, I have had nothing but A's and A+s without having to study more than an hour each day. In middle school, I studied for twice as long, sometimes even for 3 or 4 hours, but my grades fell to as low as a B- and I never got anything higher than an A- for a long time. But now that I have started high school, I know I needed to change. This video was right before all the assessments, and I'm proud to say I can study for just one hour each day and get only A+s, which is better than before! However, this semester is over, and the next one will be harder, so I will switch to studying for 2 hours, as the video says. Incredible work! You have potentially saved me from a life of mediocrity in the 9-5 20 bucks an hour hell, and I will forever remember you for that.

1. Use active recall (do problem sets, practice questions, etc. instead of just copying text) 2. Focus on what you arent good at 3. Do homework on the same day (i.e. get things done early) 4. Eliminate distractions (put phone on airplane mode and put it away) 5. Change study environment (e.g. clean up room/table, define certain separate space specifically for studying) 6. When in the zone, get more done (i.e. "leveraging study momentum) -- set goal and prove to yourself that you can get it done

As an 8th grader, im glad i saw this before high school! And about the time management, they give our homework for the day and i just finish it in school whenever any teacher is absent or after the class ends and there's a short break! Usually during snacks/lunch break I eat quickly and do the homework lol. Also, teachers make us do our incomplete but I finish that days work so I can attend my extra-curricular classes in the evening:D new sub!! love the way you portrayed these effective tips:)

The biggest problem for me is distractions, focus, and motivation. My tips and advice for this has been studying in other places that "feel" like a study environment, such as the library, or putting on a playlist specifically for studying. Removing distractions as you said really helps, but if you're studying in a dorm/bedroom, then its easy to glance at your bed and want to lay down. Another thing is I struggle with actually sitting down and just doing it. What I do is tell myself "just do it for at least 10 minutes". This kinda plays in the motivation leverage because typically once I start something, I want to finish it. One more thing I use is the pomodora technique, which is incredibly popular now, but I can only really focus for 15-20 minutes straight. That routine of casual small breaks helps with my focus a lot, and helps with the urge of wanting to check my phone, since I can just concince myself I'll be able to check it during my break.

This actually. Deep work is the key in studying. I can only study 4 hours max a day and it may go longer if I feel my momentum to do more. I respect my set rest days in order to help me recharge and rest well before tackling the next week. And remove distractions - I usually put my phone on silent or just turn it off whilst doing deep work.

Hi Collin, thank you for your video! Your tips are very helpful. Would like to ask: let's say you give yourself 2 hours to study a new econs chapter, what will you do in that 2 hours? Will you jump straight into the practice questions? or will you consume the contents in the first hour and do practice questions on the second, etc.? What will be your plan?
@akshara.s Жыл бұрын
Hi! im no expert at studying but i might have some tips? So what I would do is take the textbook and skim through the whole chapter to get a clear understanding of it, and then as I go I'll form questions in a separate notebook or a scrap piece of paper. (ok so i have a separate note for practicing active recall and i use that) Next, you wanna practice active recall, i do it for each subtopic by reading it once and then dumping whatever i know into that notebook and focusing on what I'm weak on. i do this for the whole chapter and practice the same thing so i memorise the whole thing. THEN, i take the questions that I've formed and do it like a practice paper. Honestly, i take 2 hours to do this but there are other study methods you can use and modify to your liking:) also, ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS?? try keeping your phone in a separate room or in a place you can't see it.
@Illusiona56 Жыл бұрын
@@akshara.sfor me, dumping doesn’t work as my short term memory is too good. I like to read through key concepts, then do the practice questions seeing which ones I struggle with, and going back to the concepts and further studying the ones i have trouble with
@akshara.s Жыл бұрын
@@Illusiona56 That's also a very effective method to study! As I'm a slow and visual learner, I find doing mind maps and diagrams and more practical questions and like studying with modules, lectures or videos more helpful for me:) different people have different methods, but finding it is the difficult part for most.
