I watched that VOX video and was determined to have my first hardware instrument be an old school MPC. Was eyeing the 2500, that seemed perfect to me

The 2500 is very modern compared to the older models, it has far more features and convenience, especially when using the JJOS operating system instead of the standard Akai which sucks by comparison. However I don't really enjoy using that machine ergonomically, and it doesn't really have "a sound" at all. Also the data wheel is really stiff and loud, like you could not make beats at night on headphones with people trying to sleep. Overall a great machine though.
