I was sitting in front of the TV ANYTIME the Jackson 5 appeared on any show! They were so on point. Michael Jackson had IT. I love watching this performance. Jermaine's voice was much more mature than his age (15). Michael was a natural onstage. His vocal range and their harmonies were insane!

To watch his career from the beginning of his take off as a solo artist......bitter sweet. The want for him to succeed, then succeed more, and then even more. And when he finally hit a pinnacle never reached before......we destroyed him. But at the same time, I got to see everything from Off The Wall forward. And the events that were his video premieres.....must see TV. To see the moonwalk on Mowtown 25 live. You cannot replace that. One of, if not the greatest entertainer of my time and all time before and after.

STILL AMAZING-I watched this on vhs constantly in the 80s. It was a sure fire hit at slumber parties where we laughed ourselves silly over their “ groovy” costumes and ridiculous dance moves- but the catchy music, and powerful vocals were irresistible and undeniable. Michael was pure charisma and charm. Classic performance.

The Jackson 5 was a instant hit ! Motown knew they struck gold with this group, many record studios tried to copy cat The Jackson 5 , but no group could touch them , they would have a few little hits and then they faded out , I remembered their debut on the Andy Williams show, Five Brother’s, The lead singer “ Michael “ was nine years old, one brother “ Jermaine “ play the bass. The other brother ” Tito “ play 🎸 guitar, Their Afros & bell bottoms, so cool . Had their pictures on my wall, I have one big picture of Bruce Lee , lol the rest was all of The Jackson Five on the other 3 walls , fun memories

Janet was 3 yrs old when this performance aired. She started performing about years later when the family had a residency engagement in Las Vegas, which also included teenage sister LaToya, & youngest brother Randy, who was 10 or 11. He & Janet did a sort of campy routine, pretending to be Sonny & Cher, & Janet also imitated Mae West.

As a never uptight old 70's white boy, I learned these amazing tidbits of wisdom. Black don't crack, once you go black you'll never go back (May the Lord bless Kamala Harris) and the Jackson 5 was a huge part of the first pop phenomenon that bridged the race gap with style and inimitable grace. They had since broken away from Motown and proved their universal appeal among the masses. It thrills my heart to see our beautiful new generation enjoy the music I was blessed with as a kid!

"Stand" was written by Sylvester Stewart of Sly & The Family Stone. Michael Jackson would later own his Music Catalogue. Sly would later be a major influence on Prince. If you can, check out their Going Back To Indiana Concert, it was a Hometown Show and the kids went crazy. You have to remember that in the late 1960's folks told them to give it up, but they didn't. Also they did alot for publishing in the sense that they were on the very first cover of the first African American Teen Magazine Right On 1971-2014 which was the Sister Magazine of Tiger Beat 1965-Present.

I first heard "Who's loving you" while watching the tv show "Jacksons: American Dream" and I loved it immediately, bought the soundtrack. I was disappointed it didn't include his live cover of Diana ross "Reach Out and Touch someone" because his version was so much better, but it's only in the show and well, a lesser quality version on KZbin now.

Keep in mind that The Ed Sullivan Show was the greatest variety show in the history of US TV. It started as Ed Sullivan & His Toast Of The Town that debuted on CBS on June 30th 1948. It was renamed Ed Sullivan in 1957. Who's Loving You was written by Smokey Robinson and it's the most popular audition song in the UK on The X Factor but when folks audition they say Michael Jackson. If you did Ed Sullivan you didn't have a life. Monday to Friday you rehearsed, Saturday was Dress Rehearsal and from 8:00 PM to 9:00 you didn't call, interrupt or disturb under any circmstance. Yet it paid off because you got more of an audience than with any other show. The show went off the air in 1971 after 23 years and Mr. Sullivan died 50 years ago in 1974. He and Dick Clark did alot for Black Artists. He originally started out as a Reporter so he had an eye for talent. He had The Beatles on and didn't hear their music before they even performed.

Pretty much right here (on the Ed Sullivan show) the Jackson 5 became my all time favorite group...right when, all of a sudden Lil bitty Mike begins to spin out from the syncopated dance steps with his brothers, grabs the mic, and takes full attention on center stage..yea, his brothers are still there doin their thang too...but it’s lil bitty Mike doing things I'd never seen. Now, back then the Temptations (David Ruffin era) were my favorite group too..but the Jackson 5 are my favorite group too. Think of when one means more than one (one choir, many voices, one team many players, extra)
