I went to the Toronto and Buffalo shows on this tour. Tickets were an early Christmas gift for my sister for the Toronto shows. People thought $41 was a high price for a ticket in 1984. Today in 2024 $200 (or far more) is common for a concert ticket. I saw Jackson and Prince in 1984, both great performers. I also saw U2 at Massey Hall.

Amazing quality! Being born in 84 and a huge Jackson fan, this concert was an enigma growing up. If you didn’t experience it, you only heard about it or saw tiny 2-5 second clips. I remember seeing the original uploads of this and the Kansas concert for the first time during the infancy of YT and social media. I was so enamored with joy to and always thought how cool it would be to remaster this, and the Triumph concerts. Excellent work. Now if we can just get some Triumph and the Kansas Victory concert, that would be amazing.

This was fun to watch. The only negative for me was that, unfortunately this was the time When Funk dancing and R&B groups thought they could replace horn sections with a keyboardist playing samples. And frankly, it just sucked compared to live horns That they used on the recordings and it previously groups would have on stage as well. I’ll never forget my disappointment at an early 80s Commodores gig when there is no horns on stage and a guy playing thin synthesizer samples instead. It really took a step back and a liveness and overall richness. I find the same happens here with all the horn parts replaced by a synthesizer.
@TAISUSA20 күн бұрын
I understand your point, but it was the era of the emerging of synthesizers...and was such a fun time for musicians to feel as though they could emulate sound they otherwise would've never been able to produce whilst not being a wind or wood or brass instrumentalist. Lol

MJ...what to say? He changed the music world. He invented music videos. He changed modern dance. We always talk about him ad a singer, but we must know that he has been the best modern dancer of all times!!!! The only singer in History who is in the hall of fame of dance. Side to side with Rudolf Nureyev. This is huge. My two daughters have 24 and 22 years and study dance since they were 5. They grew up listening to and dancing MJ songs.The smallest one just won the "World of Dance Italy competition" and probably will go to California for the final. I look at theyr choereographies and I see MJ . After 50 years!! This is a measure of the importance of MJ in dance. Same for songs, i still hear MJ's songs lines in actual songs.

This was more like a Michael Jackson tour, as a solo artist, instead of The Jacksons. I guess they've figured that 100% of the fans had paid to see only Michael anyway. The audience really didn't care if the rest of the brothers were there or not.
