As a solo artist, Jermaine was NEVER as GREAT as his younger brother, Michael. Jermaine's PROBLEM was that he was always DISTRACTED by WOMEN and SEX instead of staying FOCUSED on his career. Michael, on the other hand, LIVED and BREATHED his career. He gave his ALL to his career----later for women and sex. I'm SURE that Michael ENJOYED himself with WOMEN sometimes, but his JOB came FIRST with him. AS the ULTIMATE PROFESSIONAL, Michael LIVED by the mantra: business before pleasure. Michael didn't let anyone or anything PREVENT him from goin' as FAR as he could in his solo career.

After the success of Thriller in 1982, Michael didn't owe his brothers anything and everything he did afterward was a gift.....Thriller catapulted Michael into super stardom that they could not compare to.....he blessed them with his presence with the Victory Tour and let it ALL go after that.....he STILL had mad love for his brothers but felt that he was carrying the load (which he was)......

It's true that the Jackson 5 layed the foundation for Michael's success, but he was also the main reason for the success of the Jackson 5 due to his talent and extraordinary charisma. Without Michael the band wouldn't have come as far and it showed later on who the audience was really interested in.

@eatforhappiness6150
@eatforhappiness6150 Жыл бұрын
@@HectorLopez-wj4ff I'm reacting to the statement of the brothers that the foundation of Michael's success was layed by the group. My argument is that the group's success was because of Michael's appeal to the audience. Joseph saw that talent very early and quickly replaced Jermaine with Michael as the lead singer. That's when J5 was catapulted into stardom. All of the lead singers you mentioned were the reason of their band's success, because of their unique appeal. Therefore I believe that the brothers could express more appreciation for their brother's contribution to their own fame instead of diminishing him by saying that there would be no Michael Jackson without the Jackson 5.

There’s no need to disrespect Jermaine. He was a star too. The Jacksons, as a group, built a fan base from 1970 through 1984. The groups black fan base followed them closely and with that fan base, the group consistently sold out arenas before MJ dropped Off the Wall. They continued to sell out arena after the 1980 Triumph album and the 1981 Live Album. The success that came in 1983 (after Thriller dropped at the end of 82) brought new fans, younger fans and whiter fans and a larger international fan base. Also, for the record, MJ was closest to Jermaine and Janet.

What a lot of people don't realize is the success of "Thriller" launched MJ into a level of super stardom that very few have reached. The "Victory" album and tour were great, but let's face facts, it's obvious who people wanted to see. It was also difficult for Jermaine and the rest of the Jacksons to be constantly compared to MJ as well, especially when you're trying to venture out on your own. Great video from the detail. Michael drove himself...HARD. He had a goal and a determination that was unmatched by his brothers. He was mega-talented but his relentless drive and hard work made him the best in the business. He truly sacrificed himself. None of his brothers did that. Just look at how much better the Bad Tour was than the Victory Tour. It was all HIS. He made all the decisions. I did miss his brothers being on stage with him for the old songs but Bad gave us a taste of what a Thriller Tour could've been.

They were all talented but as you said Michael was driven to succeed and worked hard to this end, even in his younger days when the brothers were out playing basketball while he was in the studios, trying to learn as much as he could. No way was he a " manufactured, over-hyped puppet" as the narrator questioned. I think on the contrary, the key to his massive fame was the fact that he was in control of his music and stage productions, and knew what he was about.

Michael wanted to pursue his own musical and dance career. He created successfully "Thriller," "Bad," and "Dangerous." Jermaine and his brothers initially dismissed this as worthless and believed he was wasting his time. Michael was driven by a desire to bring his dreams to life and follow his instincts. He was determined to create and actualize his ideas, regardless of others' opinions about his work. Jermaine and his brothers recognized the immense talent of this mega star and couldn't help but feel jealous. They understood that without Michael, who had the genuine, true, and exclusive talent within the band, they couldn't launch successful solo careers. They held him responsible for their inability to establish solo careers or to make an income by continuing with the Jackson 5. Especially Jermaine was jealous, that's why Michael when he thanked his brothers, often said: "Including Jermaine". From the outset of Michael's life, this conditioning and conflict is pretty clear, often exploited by others for financial gain. He financially supported his father and his brothers for child support and various expenses. He served as the primary source of income for his brothers and his father. At one point, he was tired of constantly providing financial support to them. Michael had always been used as a cash cow for other people.

We would’ve gotten so much more from MJ creatively from the tour and maybe even getting an earlier album. At that point his success just usurped the industry, let alone the Jacksons.. They, mainly Jermaine, just wanted to eat off of the success of Thriller and that’s what really drove MJ away from the family it seems like..

Watching this was embarrassing. Jermaine's career was ridiculous. By the way, the Jacksons 5 would never have been successful if it weren't for Michael. No disrespect to the brothers, but during that era Michael’s star power was just too much for his brother’s to handle. We all know who the fans were there to see. Michael didn't need the 💰, but his brothers did. They knew there was no tour without him and so did he. Even though it was called The Victory Tour, no songs from that album were played. The songs performed were from the early J5 days and Michael's solo albums. That was part of the compromise between Michael and his brothers. Michael got fed up with the turmoil among the group that he ended the tour before it's completion. There was supposed to be an American along with European tour portion.

The best thing he should’ve did in those down moments was do a world reunion tour or MTV unplugged with all 6 of his brothers which their now legendary last performance for MJ’s 30th anniversary was the best part of that show and then do one more tour for himself cause he clearly said: HE HATED TOURING so the whole point of the THIS IS IT tour was just that…and then, he died Janet just revealed in her documentary that there were plans for a FAMILY tour with everyone but the powers that be on MJ’s end did everything to stop it which only proves there was a agenda

Jermaine Jackson is well known to black folk from that era. Jermaine has always been very popular again, in the black community. He was the one, teenage girls were crazy for in the early 1970s. We always new MJ was the star, but black folk always said back them, Jermaine has a really nice singing voice. Jermaine had a lot of RnB radio airplay. He wasn't going platinum or gold, but Jermaine got airplay then and now on classic RnB Stations. Messing Around. Daddy Home. Lets Get Serious. Let Me Tickle Your Fancy. Take Good Care Of My Heart. Dynamite. Do What You Do. Dont Take It Personal. Jermaine is a better bass player than most people realize. The have tutorials on his playing. Bottom line, Jermaine has always had his own lane. Clubs, outtdoor stages, small auditoriums. On a bill with several acts. Jermaine has always gone off and done his own thing, and black folk, from back then, know and appreciate the radio hits. Jermaine makes a good point in that music wise he could put up his songs too. MJ singing a Jermaine song is a MJ hit song. Most of us know that there is no comparison. Jermaine never wanted to look like or sound like MJ. Jermaine was said to be the protective one. Jermaine had a lot if European influences musically speaking. Finally for the record. MJ is the one who was poweful enough to make calls, to have things shut down. He had prince shut down from working with Latoya. He caught wind of Jermaine's producers. And here comes MJ. That move put Jermaines music on hold. MJ did many things and hid his hand. I'm not bashing the King. Joe and Katherine taught them early in that entertainment is married to evil. Family is loyal. MJ wanted to scrap that Jackson's thing. Katherine made him feel guilty. And wanted him to do his own thing and still do something with his brothers too. To do that MJ started distancing himself from Katherine and the brothers. Down that short line, she had to reach out to someone who would contact someone who would then reach the MJ office, it would eventually get to one of the leads, to get to an assistant, to request that he call her. Jermaine was meant to be the lead singer until Michael sang " Climb Every Mountain " for a school assembly. Joe changed the lineup that same night. Jermaine never forgot about it.

I think that the presence of the jackson's band during the 90's and their teamworks would have help michael jackson to stay connected to the people. His team at this time was full of only bussiness actors who never said to him "no, bro! Take it back, off the wall". Rip mj.

Jermaine was jealous, let’s just call it like it is. I know he loved his little brotha to death and he still do, but he was wrong. Michael was so sweet ❤

Agreed. Makes you wonder does some of those critics even know much about the music industry or just going by their personal thoughts.

The Victory album was good, but it wasn’t that good. Every Jackson has basically their own song and Michael purposely submitted subpar songs for it.

Although Michael lost that blend in harmonies, that only his brothers could have provided, once he went solo. Janet is the ONLY SIBLING whose TALENTS even COME CLOSE, to Michael's. 😮

Jermaine Wanted to Be like Michael Jackson so bad it was killing him, and Michael Jackson is the best Singer & Dancer of all time, and Michael Jackson is better by his self, and no one can compare to Michael Jackson

If the brothers make a tour now a days, it will be successful, and they should perform some of Michael's songs, too.
