Wonderful video David. The combination of black and white with the clarity of modern video is striking. The choice of music was spot on too. Noel

Many thanks Noel, glad you enjoyed it and B&W certainly brought some shots to life much more. It was an easy choice of music for me :)

So much to comment on, David and Peter! Monochrome works perfectly with a magical balance of steam, lineside and on-board, scenery, elements of nature, plus clever editing with touches of colour - berries at Polnish and the water at Morar. The music is a perfect fit. This has a truly professional quality throughout and the last sequence of the train from the ferry adds a touch of genius. Watching this has made my day. Kind regards, Bob

Thank you very much Bob, glad you enjoyed it so much and apologies for the slow reply. It was enjoyable to process and edit, and I was happy with the end result, nice to read your comments about the little details. Thanks again, David.

A fantastic compilation, superb camera work and brought together really well. The onboard clips and the noise of engines working hard really makes me miss the simple pleasure of hanging out the front window on a railtour enjoying the sights and sounds of steam working hard

Thank you very much James, much appreciated. I also miss window hanging - a simple pleasure as you say; I could stand there all day long on a railtour. Many thanks, David.

Excellent video David. Black and white doesn't diminish the wonderful scenery of Scotland

Thanks Austin, glad you enjoyed it. I only process footage in monochrome where I think doing so will genuinely add to it, and on these visits the scenery was very grey and green with low cloud etc., so it made quite a difference. Thanks, David.

Just great. Some unusual shots and some great steam action. It makes it timeless and a bit more special.It also irons out the weather too. Great work again. Amacf

Good stuff. Although it has been done by others going back as far as JMW Turner, I like the techique of adding colour to a single small object in an otherwise monotone image, and you did that so well, thank you.
@Linesider14 жыл бұрын
Many thanks, much appreciated. I enjoy adding colour selectively where I think it adds value, and whilst the weather was not very good on the whole, there were elements that shouted out for it.

Brilliant as ever David, wasn’t sure if B&W would work for the Highlands scenery but I was proved wrong. Of topic the last B&W shot you did on the stretch from Arten Gill to Dent had the engine working so do you know if that is still the case on that section 🤔Cheers
@Linesider14 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve, glad you enjoyed it. The scenery on the days I filmed was very green and very grey which I think lends itself well to Black and White. I wouldn't expect them to be working along that stretch now following the removal of the 20mph speed restriction which was in place near Arten Gill when I filmed it. Thanks, David.
