We tend to think Lawful and Chaotic as another Good-Bad axis, but it's dispassionate. It's a simple measure of how important rules and guidelines are to you. Jade plays by her rules, even if they're not rules that we share. She doesn't lie or give uneven deals. Everything is perfectly fair. That need for equivalency is at her core, so she does fall on the Lawful part of the axis.

Hating Jade's character is akin to hating your own insecuritues and desires as a human being. She shows us how we want to see ourselves, strong, wise, good, fair etc. while telling us (humanity) nothing is without a cost and every action we take will have consequences we might not be fully aware of. Life is just a gamble as Aventurine probably learned and there will always be risks and other negatives involved while seeking betterment. I don't hate a Jade, I just pity human behavior to not be able to come to terms to this simple fact and learn from it. There’s something I want to add: despite Jade’s lawful neutral stance, she does seem to legitimately care about the idea of “childhood”. This can be literal in how she donate’s to orphanages to give those orphans better lives. It’s also seen in a more metaphorical sense with Aventurine & Topaz, where she seems to view them as “children” in the workforce. She seems to legitimately care for them in some way.

Amazing analysis. One thing to add I think Jade was Eve at some point. It makes sense the first tempted seeking knowledge became the one tempting others. There are a lot of mom themes regarding her and her signature being straight up Eve. All of these point to her being Eve.

So glad this video appeared on my home screen. This analysis is top notch. So many people questioned why I skipped Firefly to get Jade instead, saying 'why would you go for the PF-only evil villain, over the versatile dps who's also a cute cinnamon roll that loves you?' and it's like... I love Jade BECAUSE she's so morally ambiguous. That makes her so interesting to me, especially because I was brought up religious so I understood all the biblical references straight away. All Jade does is tempt people - it's people's own desires that push them to do unspeakable things. Jade is the catalyst to tempt people to do what was already in their hearts. So can you really call Jade evil when the evil desires were born in other people's hearts? Some say yes, some (like me) say it's impossible to say. She is both good and evil. And that's why I love her. (plus she's hot)

I would say it's definitely clear she's a semi horrible person, like the MC or Kafka/SW you'd want them as a friend, but not enjoy them messing with you. I definitely think the people who accept her deals are the ones with the problems, because all they need to do is ask for something reasonable and therefore give up something reasonable in return, as well as not repeat trip depending on what they give up

I wanted to know the sponsor of the video better 😞, and man what a great analysis into Jade's character, the Bible and modern world links, this video seriously needs to be more popular! And i couldn't help but also make a link with Sunday's giving up his desire to control to achieve his true objective and link it to the Ena/Xipe situation, in the lore, Ena is said to not struggle against the assimilation process of the Harmony, and although is not exactly clear why it did that, i couldn't help but think of it on the same way Sunday negotiated with Jade to achieve his true goal, Ena knew that if it struggled against the assimilation, it would only bring disorder and even if both managed to coexist somehow, both ideals would crash and bring more disorder, so for the greater good of the universe and the Order, Ena willingly assimilated to preserve the order, that as an Aeon, was it's ultimate goal, but enough about my chicken wing boy and saint puppet obsession, anyway, great video as always man!

Chat this is fire and made me realize yet again how life is going as a human Falling into temptation i' the heat of the moment like me spending 80$ after losing a 50/50 on character i wanted, or even holding back from said temptation knowing im satisfied with my current stuff and characters for example, like i don't need every new character if my current ones can efficiently clear endgame. I love this analysis. Jade simply being there and subtly amplifying desires that are already within others makes it so that the best way to not lose anything, is to not desire something so much, and never have come to her shop in the first place. and since the consequences is already decided the moment she seize your desire, karma comes into play here. Like you get what you want, and there’s a price to pay. Whether to see it as a loss or a gain, is again subjectively up to the buyer. Love it And yes perpetuating desire and greed is the reason why i love her so much, and rolled for her despite the doomposting (me wanting her, ironically since her whole concept is about desperately wanting and fighting to get something would often lead to not so great outcomes) Thank you for this 🙏💯👌

On another note, that part where you remind us of both Robin’s and Sunday’s encounter with Jade speaks a lot. All of her clients come to her, except for Sunday, where she visits him in jail: she wants something from him - the planet of Penacony itself. To retrieve what already belonged to IPC. And my mind instantly makes a connection to the story of Hook and his father. Would it’ve been a foreshadow? They both love each other so much, and would sacrifice anything for the others’ happiness. In the end, they both get what they wanted, only to realize the other has sold their most valuable asset in exchange for a gift to the other (i played her quest too long ago to pin point the detail but it was a part of a Screwdriver vs Hook’s father watch, is it not?) Robin and Sunday both lived under Harmony and wish for the best to their planet, their dream and strive for a better future for everyone. Yet one is given an offer, and one comes for an offer. Would Sunday’s freedom cost the whole planet to pay in the first place? They’re both free from their duty and “Penacony’s prosperous, peaceful and ever-happy future, is ensured in the company’s hand” (something i expect to come out of Jade/company’s gem - imagine there’ll be a different side of gem come to snatch penacony off of Jade - Topaz - Aven’s pocket). Makes me wonder what the next twist hoyo’d bring to us. Really excited for how the story’ll unfold.

As a Jade lover and wanter (cries, I didn't get Jade during her run cuz I didn't have enough Jades. Forever regret getting FF on accident), this was an amazing analysis! So so SO many people misunderstood Jade, saying she's a manipulative horrible villainess like people straight up ignores all the biblical references because "gooner" and she's just another Dommy Mommy. There was one post on HoyoLab that asked if Jade would ever confront the Astral Express and it baffles me so many people say "yes" because she would strike back if they would go against her goal like??? The reading comprehension of the players are just... 😭😭😭 She's one of the most interesting characters in the game and I wish she had more screentime during 2.3. Hoping to see more from your channel! The video is so well made that it feels to be made by her personal Assistant (sla-). But on a serious note, the addition of moral geniuses into the mix suggest Hoyo always wanted to drive the story in such a way, rather than the large scale changes (Belebog or Penacony) it wants to set in chain something so large, its incomprehensible. The only thing I can hope for is to watch Jade interact with morally extreme and mature characters (Kafka through Firefly, Acheron, Welt through Trailblazer, Jing Yuan, etc) And see how it turns out.

She was also seen to positively interact with the children in the orphanage. And all the children there really love her. Some of the children are also concerned about her well-being; asking if she had enough rest and taking good care of her own health. Indicating Jade had no malicious intent. One of the children then mentioned that when she grow up, she wanted to be just like Jade. Helping people who are in need. This actually gave Jade a solemn bitter feeling after hearing this; implying that Jade herself knows what she does is no savior or truly moral (and wished that the children does not follow her footstep). Oh Jade the woman you are. I really love her so much. She's the first character i actually fell in love ever since i played the game a year ago.
