I always liked Yanqing. I'm older though, so I could see that his brash arrogance was born out of youth and immaturity. Been there, done that myself. Poor kid was so confident in his skills until he went up against three members of the High Cloud Quintet. I mean, he's a little kid taking on pretty much gods. They're all ridiculously overpowered, legends of the Xianzhou. Dan Heng even mentioned that he handled himself well, he just didn't have the experience and it was an unfair fight. I'm glad to see him grow and progress. I liked seeing him and Yunli train March 7th and his interactions with Luka were great. He's a good kid.

I don't know if anyone noticed or it's just me, but in the JP version, during the cutscenes, Yanqing's voice somehow became lower than before. Not too low, but enough to show that he has grown a bit since the last time. It was a pretty nice update to the fact that Yanqing also matured in the latest mission.

I liked Yanqing from the beginning, though I wished he wasn’t so impulsive and headstrong and could see why some didn’t like him. I just think he is very prideful at the beginning, as the person training directly under the general and as his right hand man. He wants to show that being the disciple of the strongest man he know, he shouldn't lose to anyone else. And honestly I don't think that's a bad trait. He took a step back after getting humbled by losing to people probably 30x more experienced than him. It amazed me that he grew even more after the latest patch, very proud of him.

I think it's possible, but not too soon. At the end, Wardance he said that many people advise him and he himself wants to travel, so he will definitely learn more. The path in HSR corresponds not to the belief in a given aeon but more to the inner conviction of the character, so he will probably get a different path.

Humiliation against foes beyond his strength leading to maturity. First it was Jingliu, then it was Blade and the resurrected Imbibitor Lunae, and then followed by Kafka. After learning from Jing Yuan what he truly expects from him Yanqing started to handle challenges with a different approach. First defeating a reflection of himself created by a sword heliobus, later prioritizing Luofu's safety and handling of the Borisin over lesser matters like getting back his sword that was taken from Yunli and even Yunli's rude remarks. He later along with Yunli had to train March in the art of Xianzhou swordsmanship putting him in the position the General was with him which tested his patience. Later on when he hears of Hoolay's escape he placed that as the priority over upholding his title as the Ringmaster going as far as not participating in the Wardance. That was until it's unveiled Hoolay plans on taking the Skysplitter. All of the events before the Wardance you can say culminated with Yanqing unleashing the move that Jingliu defeated Hoolay with thus besting him. I do not know whether Yanqing can unleash it again on his own accord though and whether he knows enough on it for Yunli to replicate or create an own version with her Old Mettle. Being entrusted by Feixiao to handle things he did and held back against Feixiao who had gone berserk he also did. Finally during the Wardance he still upheld his title and while he did beat Luka he gave him the standing ovation he deserves because Luka earned it. Although I am curious about Yanqing's sword collection. Course he still shows some degree of smugness especially towards Yunli who both see each other as rivals being ace swordsmen of their own respective Xianzhou ship.

I think the Kafka quest/Cloud Quintet has done something to his character development too. When Jingliu met with Jing Yuan, Dan Heng and Blade, Yanqing was also there, and he pretty much learnt everything about Jing Yuan's past. He said something at the end of the quest along the lines of 'General wishes me to forget about what I saw today./ Will me and my friends fall apart like them (the Cloud Quintet) someday?" I think this is also a factor contributing to Yanqing's personality shift in 2.5.This quest with the Cloud Quintet got him thinking real deep. Perhaps this is also why Yanqing wishes to share Jing Yuan's burdens by participating in the Wardance.

I'm really grateful to HoYo for making Yanqing content that showed why he really fights. Yanqing fans were harassed for liking him, and that kind of behavior is stupid and wrong. Hopefully now people will learn that Yanqing deserves to be loved by his fans. He's not an overconfident brat, he never lost so he didn't know how strong his enemies could be. He never fought with someone stronger (not including Jing Yuan who trained him) so how could he know where his limit is? Besides, losing is important in learning. By losing you understand what you did wrong, and lack of it doesn't help you progress. Yanqing is amazing, words cannot describe how much I love him. This recent new 2 patches on Luofu made my opinion change towards him. In previous patch we can see how much he grow by simply introduced Yunli who seems around at the same age as him and shown as a brat who is more impulsive than him now, then on the same patch Yanqing showed his wits when he pretends to being a younger brother with March as he grasped the situation. Also in some scene we saw that even being provoked by Yunli he doesn't even care her words when it comes to fulfilling his duty (i don't really remember her words but she did provoked Yanqing in front of Jingyuan and others but he only cares about his duty at that time). I really like these 2 patches really change our perspective towards him, from boy/brat/punching bag to a MAN and one day he will be YanKING.

I've always loved him! He's so cute! When HSR's pre-registrations were opened, and we had to make those Astral Express tickets, I chose him as my ticket's background. I even placed stickers of him on the ticket for extra luck! My devotion paid off, as I pulled him from the new player banner! Nowadays he's been powercrept by everyone and their mother, but I still like to bring him out from time-to-time, if for nothing more than to admire him. I hope Hoyo makes a new variant of him that makes his power lore accurate. Since Hoyo refuses to buff/rework characters, this seems like his only hope.

I've been a fan of Yanqing since day 1 and seeing his growth as a character over the Xianzhou related quests is great. He was impulsive, sure, but he had his reasons as anyone would. Back then, he was said as an impatient and hecking annoying brat that nearly all of my community hate him so much that they spread out fakefacts and nobody care if they were wrong. But in my eyes, he didnt want to mean “i’m the strongest” but he only wish to say and prove to JingYuan that “look General, i can also help you”, and I know well that he is build as a grown-up teenager irl, impatient and over-confident, but also a polite and well-taught child that looking forward to share burdens with the person he owed his life for. I love Yanqing even people hating him about his attitude. Yanqing's attitude is normal because kids likely to have short sight this is why adults (parents if he got but he is an orphan) need to teach youngsters a lot of things including values, patients and more things. As they grow they will learn a lot mostly from mistakes they did from the past. Yanqing is just a normal kid and he is on the process of learning and growing. Talent doesn't have to do with moral and etiquette. It should be teached t9 then. 😊

Well my man went against IL and Blade and then Jingliu so he's learned a lot. That last cutscene with the Jingliu callback says as much. I always hated when ppl made fun of him and called him weak for getting absolutely clapped but he had the guts to stand up against Blade, IL, and Jingliu three absolute monsters that could probably destroy anyone in the alliance if they really wanted to. That right there isn't weakness that's confidence and strength at it's finest. If he turned tail and ran then yeah he would've definitely deserved the slander but he didn't. And no I don't wanna see ppl say Feixiao would beat Jingliu when I say the three monsters can destroy anyone. Until she can truly kill Blade then she'll be maybe top five. And as I always say Jingliu was the only one able to freeze and imprison Hooley back in his prime, Feixiao fought a weakened version of him considering he was basically starved for 700 years and he was also poisoned as well so. But again if Feixiao can "kill" Blade then she'll be up there.

I remember when people use to HATE him, especially on Reddit. Like yeah he annoyed me at times but he’s literally a kid. I never hated him, I’m not surprised he got some character development because it always gave he felt pressured to prove himself especially to Jing Yuan

when the game first came out, i WANTED to get yanqing from the beginner's banner. I finally got him using the 300 wishes standard banner character picker recently! I never understood why everyone hated him when it's pretty clear that he's literally a kid who's still learning about himself and the world out there - - personally I found it endearing, like a parent 🤭

From the start, I really hated Yanqing because he was too arrogant, felt he was stronger than others and also Yanqing had the ambition to become the strongest swordsman in the entire galaxy. Even though his intentions were actually good, wanting to help General Jing Yuan and restore the situation of Xianzhou Luofu which was experiencing a Stellaron crisis. Yanqing was sure that the mastermind behind all this crisis was the work of the Stellaron Hunters, Kafka & Blade, who brought a Stellaron into Xianzhou Luofu, because they both had become the most wanted fugitives in entire Galaxy. However, after returning to Xianzhou Luofu, Yanqing has now lowered his arrogant nature and is good at reading the situation that he is not the only strong one in Xianzhou Luofu. Because outside Xianzhou Luofu there are still many people who are much stronger than Dang Heng IL, Kafka and Blade who faced by Yanqing such as Acheron, Firefly/SAM and even Aeon Nanook.

I actually did one of those ranking Tumblr things for hsr, and, bcuz of these past 2 story quests, Yanqing ranked a lot higher for me, than he would've if I had done them only after Penacony. I was never one of the Yanqing haters, but I love how much he's changed. The way we can see how he's learned from others and matured. Ngl, especially if I like his kit, I'd be down to pull for an alt limited version of him with his newly enhanced skills, if they ever choose to do that. I'm really looking forward to seeing what other changes he will bring to the story now.

I've seen his gradual growth and he stands out as a very young-seeming child amidst the aged long-life species. So his insecurities and growth shine just as bright. He learns and progresses, and so does our respect for him. I'm just curious when he will get a new form, upon finding his true purpose, maybe after learning his past.

Well I guess I gotta express my thoughts I loved Yanqing since the beginning of the game and always will! Back in 1.0, my favorite thing about Yanqing was his dynamic with Jing Yuan, but that was pretty much it (the Xianzhou main story quest wasn’t really good). But then during version 1.2, everything really started to fall off. It felt like hoyo sacrificed his entire character for the plot, and I almost gave up the game that time as Yanqing was getting memed all over the place. But in 1.5, my hopes started to rise during the heliobus event, where we got to see his fears (disappointing Jing Yuan and being a failure) and how he was affected by the battle against Dan Heng and Blade. Fears are important in character arcs. It’s what prevents the character from reaching their desire. He’s grown so much over the recent versions, and it really made me happy to see where he is now compared to last year. That moment against Hoolay felt so rewarding because we finally got to see what he’s learned from those defeats. But, as Yanqing’s character grows, there are still loose threads that can be gone through. If hoyoverse decides to expand his character even further (they’ve already overhyped him so much and he’s just a standard 5 star), I believe he’ll probably be one of the best characters in terms of story in hsr. My conditions of a good character isn’t a super tragic backstory meant for you to feel bad for them. My conditions are for the character to grow and go through something. Sure, you can give me a tragic backstory, but how will it affect them in the present? Will it come back and make the character conflicted? Im sorry if I’m just yapping at this point, but I really wanted to tell my feelings about this arc. Yanqing Mains rise!! 🎉

I truly enjoy Yanqing, I liked him since the launch of the game. And He has been my first maind dps on my account carrying me through all the firts part of my adventure on HSR, even helping me finish my first moch 12 with an amazing 2 stars. Sadly i hate the fact that his kit is so poorly designed that it has become more and more difficult to find good use of him in any content. I still use him and try to use him as much as possible, but truly is hard. I don't have hopes that his design will be fixed, because it won't happen, but if it ever comes out a new alternative version of him that is actually good, that is going to be one of the only 2 characters that I am willing to pull for an alternative version (the other being Himeko). Anyways loved the video! Love from Italy

Had any in the story explain yanqinq is a short live or long live species. maybe becoz he is short life species that he feels the urge to rush everything becoz he wants to repay jingyuan b4 time consume him. but yeah i agree yanqing char development is the most noticeable. Only when one experience the ultimate defeat can one become stronger. I believe in JP version his voice is much deeper and i thought they change his VA LOL.
