It's certainly about NOW ! How strange it all comes around again after a few decades. The State "pissing their selves laughing" as the flames grow higher. @@as-rm2nu indeed. I saw TheJam play the Tory stronghold of Berkshire at Bracknell sports centre in 1980 when I was 15. It wasn't about the politics, everyone just loved the music and the energy and the brilliant lyrics, even if people didn't agree with them. We all knew what he was singing about.

the famous "chicken in a basket" venue..not one of John Wellers best bookings..think Weller and the boys were that pissed off that they played out of their skins..awesome performance..thing that gets me is how a no frills 3 piece can play a tune like Funeral Pyre and yet sound almost identical to the single..amazing.
