You don’t do that with the kind of mic amber is using. It’s designed to cut out out as much background sound as possible, matty should have had his own for the mix.

I think in this case its for aesthetic purposes, as a second mic would block the view due to the way the main camera is positioned. But he is literally singing background and he has headphones to monitor the amount of vocals he is producing in the one mic, which means that he can control the amount of his vocal in the mix. Not having a second mic eliminates the possibility for adjusting his vocal level completely independent of hers (although compression can bring it up a bit), however it also eliminates the possibility of phasing issues with the use of a second mic in close proximity.
