You might like Limited Express (has gone?) as well. The lead vocal, Yukari, also plays in a four piece female "cheer punk" band called NI-HAO!!!(ニーハオ!!!!) Midori held some shows with Shinsei Kamattechan(神聖かまってちゃん) back in 2010, you could check out their live videos. And I suppose you've heard about Togawa Jun and her band YAPOOS. I think it is safe to say Mariko's self expression and attitude on stage is quite inspired by Jun. They also held live shows together. Maybe you'll like ano, too. Her solo music is more pop, but not only, and she has a punk band called I's, too. She also worked with Mariko at some point. At last, I'll suggest GINGNANGBOYZ(銀杏BOYZ). More emo than the above, the front man Kazunobu Mineta gives his all on every show.

I recently got into the artist Lasah, im not super knowlegable about her (and my japanese is rough at best sooo) but i find her stuff rlly interesting bc it's mostly concept albums inspired by literature (innocence is sci fi novels, i love you is modern japanese literature about love i think??? and i think mother is abt osamu tezuka's work). also collaborates with some prolific vocaloid producers as well from what i can tell. soft voice, electronic sound, interesting concept and nice album art. I also like tokyo ska paradise orchestra. idk what u listen to so you might already been aware of them. i've never like looked into them much or done a deep dive on their discography im just a casual fan but like. they've been consistently releasing stuff since the early 90s until modern day??? that's a lot of ska. (also cool video i liked the presentation u got a new sub :) )

Try stuff from the alt rock band "number girl" the band people call "the loudest band from Fukuoka" (Also a small criticism I have on your video is the music playing in the background is too loud.... Sometimes it's hard to tell what you're saying)

lol so true, "jazz punk fusion" doesn't prepare them for it

At the same time, I don't think its for everybody. I was exploring screamo, hardcore punk before discovering them. I think you might have to have at least a little taste for those sorts of styles before enjoying these guys But I may be way off about that. Midori was auto suggested to me after listening to a show soundtrack which surprisingly enough had no songs like Midori's and didn't seem to have any relation to the band

@@codiserville593I'm generally not into this type of music at all, but I surprisingly really enjoy their songs. Maybe I just haven't had the chance to explore anything similar to this. Either way, I don't think you need to have such an inclination, though it certainly helps

I’ve loved Midori for so long and to see this video getting 100k+ views in a month is so heartwarming , Midori are one of my influences for my own art and Mariko Goto’s cathartic performances gave me a lot of space and energy for me to express my own emotions, and now with TikTok and the internet and stuff there’s whole new generations discovering Midori , Mariko and that raw energy

Some of their early gigs were absolutely insane, I sometimes recall them like flashbacks. My boss took me to see them by telling me "you never saw Hanatarashi, but this is close." The show reminded me of Anadorei, sometimes musically but mostly the intensity. Saw Mariko DJ last time I was in Japan love that she's still around even if she's not as crazed as she was.

What's interesting to me is how you can hear so clearly how they influenced the current J-rock scene. The interplay of the bass, keyboards and drums with the vocals bouncing back and forth between violent and innocent. Zutomayo and many vocaloid producers are so _clearly_ influenced by this it's wild.

Perfect themeing on the song choices for each section (espcially on the last part since 2nd is my favorite album of theirs) nice find of a video. Shame they disbanded, Mariko released some solo work similar sounding to midori but it never reached that raw punkish feeling she had with the band, understandably it was a much more muted album but it was still quite enjoyable, i dont know if she retains the same sentiments shes had about the music industry but i hope she and the rest of the band are doing well with whatever theyre up to nowadays
