Interesting about the effect of hormones in the womb. At Oxford (my alma mater for doctorate) they did a study predicting female natural athletic ability based on finger length. I've noticed female celebrities with longer faces often get the nickname "horse face", which never helped my ego much. Have you had many patients like this and if so, what do you usually do to balance it out? Is it uncommon to fill the lower face as opposed to slimming it down?

Great video as always, Dr Rajani. In my humble opinion I think the chin dimple looks attractive on some face shapes but not on all, if that makes sense... Overall (as a MUA of 20 years) I noticed a shift in the way these are perceived; in the past they were undesirable whereas now they are just a dimple which is often seen as "cute".. :-) You're obviously very talented and I admire your strong eye for detail. I also love the fact that you state that it's normal that our face is asymmetrical because it seems to be a big concern for the younger generation these days. I wish they could hear this coming from a professional like yourself without feeling the need to run for a beauty treatment or surgery. We never stop learning and I'm definitely learning a lot from your channel that can I can use for my own work. Thank you 🙏

Orthotropics and mewing are the answer to forward projection of maxilla and mandible. The younger, the easier it is to remodel the bone. Also if you have children: the chance for forward growth of the face is a once in a life-time opportunity! Saying that, no matter the age correct oral posture will prevent the downward ''sliding of the face''.
@rajanimdskincare4 жыл бұрын
Arletta Hejne do you have a real article on mewing- scientific - you can forward. I would love to review it.
@arlettahejne29124 жыл бұрын
@@rajanimdskincare Regarding Mewing: they have an official website and you can see science documentation there. This concept is not mainstream in dentistry but there are already dentists working so it will be evidence based (research papers to standard of dental literature). Key is dedication and starting young. Then people can remodel facial structure and this attractive upswing facial form is theirs to keep for life. And yes, you are right about factors influencing jaw development: 1. genetics 2. soft vs. hard diet 3. oral posture, nasal breathing vs oral breathing ( mewing and orthotropic treatment is an answer here) 4. body posture (that helps with developing facial form in young age/ keeping facial structure) orthotropics.com/make-your-face-beautiful/

@arlettahejne29124 жыл бұрын
Ok. Dear Doc. I will look through the publications available and send you something tomorrow or Wednesday. But in an essence you are right: excercises to improve facial structure are not necessary, at least not recruiting facial muscles. In dentistry there is a concept of neutral zone where teeth and maxilla and mandible are ( in a balance between outer facial muscles and inner muscle - tongue). If facial muscles are too strong, for example orbicularis Oris or buccinators- while parafunctional swallow- they cause lack of development of the facial structure in children or further collapse of face in adults. Then the face is small, lacking volume and not attractive. On the other hand, if outer muscles are not hyperactive but tongue is strong and in correct position- that results in forward growth in children or forward remodeling ( to a lesser degree) in adults. Therefore mewing is not as much as doing excercises as keeping continuous correct position of the tongue within oral cavity. Light but continuous forces by the tongue is what it is beneficial. Lips together Teeth together Tongue on top of your palate. Xxx I will look for some literature for you within 2 days. Ps. Your aesthetic content is great!. I am a big fan of yours 🙂

I'm a male and I do Botox for masseter slimming. I suffer from really bad TMJ and in the past it caused my masseters to get super bulky. It really detracted from my facial aesthetics and have me a bloated moon face. For almost a decade I've done Botox to slim the masseters. I love the effect from the front view, but it is also causing some sagging at the jaw angle. Do you think it can cause long term irreversible sagging? I hate the look of bulky masseters because I looked overweight even if I was fit. But the trade off is having some sagging and slackness to the jawline. Are high g prime fillers like Radiesse a decent approach to define the jawline and correct this sagging effect of Botox.? And is long term Botox use in this area not a good idea?

My jawline and neck got stronger after I started lifting heavy weights! Thats why you see athletic people have stronger face structure.

No question exercise and body fat can play a role. When bone sees resistance it stimulates. Thanks for sharing.

Who do you recommend for a pdo thread course (other than you, of course)?
@rajanimdskincare4 жыл бұрын
I have only attended my own so I honestly cannot say. I think there are many. Asia is interesting. I learn from other docs there but not in a course style more as a colleague 1:1 so the set up is different. Let us all know when you find a good one.

I love a cleft chin on both and I think it's especially sexy on a female. I used to try to draw one in with makeup it was not done in a way that could fool the eye if you know what I mean,but that's a nice feature to have

@@rajanimdskincare you are speaking my language given I am a survivor of old school orthodontics, had the eye teeth removed and braces way too early(7-14) which messed with my features, ability to speak . In an attempt to correct these issues I revisited braces when I was in my 30s after which I had orthognathic surgery to my lower jaw which took me from being over 100% overclosed to about 50% it's all messed up. The reason that I went back in for a second round of grills was to try to align my features (jaw in particular) and I was also hoping to correct the overclosure. Dentistry and orthodontics have come a long way since then. At this juncture I'd like to look a little bit better without having to go through aggressive surgery again. I like how detail-oriented you are yet understandable. I believe the mistake people make and the reason they come back from having poor cosmetic surgery or they're not happy with their results is because of lack of information and understanding and a whole lot of magical thinking ,so this is good. I live in southern California and I was telling my friend in Portland that next year I may be paying you a visit. Would really like to know what you may have to say.
