We have no reason to suppose that Palpatine didn’t sleep, given his known fatal flaw. Palpatine’s clearly observable fatal flaw that he displayed many times in canon- is that he is unduly confident in his own abilities and arrogant. Palpatine always assumed that he had perfect control of every situation at his command, and that was how he behaved. That is why he never saw it coming when Darth Vader turned on him in moment. Palpatine arrogantly believed he was in such perfect control that Vader would never do a thing like that. He even shared that belief with Luke and told him as much. This wasn’t just a one time miscalculation on Palpatine’s part either. His history in canon shows that this was a mistake he often made. Palpatine nearly blew it for himself whenever he decided to let on to Anakin that he was Darth Sidious in Episode III. Palpatine took that risk because of his very arrogant overconfidence in how much control he had of the world around him. If Anakin had shown up even a moment later for his duel with Windu- that miscalculation would have cost Palpatine everything. My guess is that Palpatine would have slept secure in his false belief that he was a master controller of everything around him. It was an actual flaw with him. A character weakness.

But that wasn't the ONLY list of force sensitive children though, what about the Holocron that Endo Cardova hid in the Bogano Vault sometime before 14 BBY and that Cal Kestis found later on? Even though he destroyed that list as well, it means that Jocasta wasn't the ONLY one that had knowledge of these children and that the list from Corosant wasn't the only list. There could still be others.

All this hard work and the efforts of the rebellion and Luke Skywalker just undermined for the sequels. That’s another reason why I don’t see them as canon Edit: another reason is the sequels really are weak stories with plain characters. The only really relatable character in the entire sequel trilogy is Kylo, because he fails and grows unlike Rey who succeeds at everything

I love how much Jocasta scared Palpatine & to an extent even Vader. The fact that Vader lacked the foresight to realize Palpatine would have replaced him with those children highlights the importance of the Consular type Jedi in the grand scheme of things. Obviously all the Jedi are/were important, but those who sought knowledge (of the Force, Jedi/Sith, galaxy, etc.) were very valuable indeed. For they posses the memes to rebuild the order.
