I always thought the FC was just a goofy looking old (like me) truck, but watching you use it like it was engineered to be used - I’m impressed. It is a joy watching you two just laugh, I’m afraid it’s becoming a lost art.

Black Mountain is another good off-road park in Southwest Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee the tri-state area... really enjoyable listening to the Mrs's sound effects, reminds me of my late wife's sound effects when we would go out driving... sitting with a tear in my eye thinking about all the old memories...

When I plan to go out for a one to two week trip in the country hear in Colorado, traveling on Federal land works out well. When it's time to rest over night you just pull over and set up what ever camp your throwing up, I usually just rack out in the back of my truck. In Colorado state and federal land requires hunting or fishing licenses for over night to two weeks of camping. Looks like you and your wife had a great time on your trip, hope the two of you get to experience more adventures together, and of course share if you like.

That FC is cool. I like the TJ rear end you put on it. My dad built a Willys (CJ2-A) in 1970 when he was stationed in Alaska. His buddy had an FC and they drove those two Jeeps just about everywhere in Alaska. The guy with the FC would break trails because his Jeep was heavier. He'd turn around and go backwards through the thick brush so he wouldn't break the windshield.

Now that you made Slade get on the KAT and it is a 900 mile loop thru eastern Ky, Western Va, NE TN. The KAT has a website and if you would have went south west towards Harlan KY, which is close to Black Mountain there are Wild Horses that roam free in that area.

Sitting over the front tires gives you a pretty hard ride. I owned a '62 FC150 that had snow plow on it from factory, it had a 200 lb counter weight between the frame rails in the rear. Top speed on level ground was 45mph and 50 plus down hill. I will be going back and watching your build. Thanks for sharing !

I used to wheel in the eastern mountains during construction projects. You want to be careful about the mud up there. I churned my way into a deep hole in seconds. I went around a hole the day before had swallowed a VW buggy. That entire area can become a supper slippery mess in short order. I had to finally drive down the side of the mountain into a church camp to get off that trail. At one point, my toyota stood straight up on the front bumper. I just slammed on the gas. Bouncing off of trees was preferable to sliding upside down on the slope. It was an exciting day for a trail that was supposed to be easy.

Damn that’s what the rest of the country looks like? It has been awhile since I’ve been down that way. Thanks for the great video. I love the Jeep, i always though it would make a great vehicle for putting a snowblower on to do my neighbors driveways because when we have heavy snow years I start to run out of places to pile it using my plow. They give me gas and beer money. There are a lots of public lands in Alaska where you can camp anywhere. Along the highways there a places to just pull off and camp.

It’s the same here in Northern California. All private property and no trespassing signs. I guess I’m lucky to live a six hour drive from Nevada. Most of that state is still open to exploring, but I really thought the eastern states were different.
