Got to drive a couple of the ww2 models in Germany in 1958.Had the flathead four banger flat hood like these.We also had the m38A1 jeep with the round hood and the Hurricane four Engine.Good machines.Too bad they had to be replaced with the junk M151 series junk.That junk never passed the acceptance test but was bought even though the M151 finished third in a test of three vehicles.

My Grandfather who fought in WWII drove one of these Jeeps while in combat. He made it back home and started a family with my Grandmother in the very small community of Grant,Alabama (population of 350-500) Current population of 1200-1700 with ONE-UNO- (1) traffic light & if it wasn't for K.D.S./ D.A.R. K to 12 School Campus ya wouldn't need the traffic light. 81 Seniors in my Graduating Class. I still own and live on the land that my Grandfather passed down to my dad. Its a beautiful community & a very unique place that sets on top of Gunter Mt....check it out. Thanks 2 those who protect our freedoms and 2 my late but great grandfather. You can definitely tell this was made fairly early in the war. Some troops were still wearing tin hats and the plane had the old insignia.

Toledo plant is still making jeeps, mostly libertys though but i think they do some wranglers too.
