In this episode of Street Food Icons, we head to Kingston, Jamaica, and get a taste of Hopeton and his son, Glenville's, pan chicken. The father-son duo and a handful of others serve up some of the tastiest and most popular pan chicken on the island. Sean Paul, Usain Bolt, weekend party-goers, and even politicians flock to Northside Chicken to eat this single-menu-item delicacy seasoned with thyme and scotch bonnets, then grilled on cleaned-out oil drums.

@silvermediastudio 24 күн бұрын
@@xlxl9440 It is incorrect... the native people, the Tainos, made jerk chicken and pork long before (thousands of years before) the Spanish brought African slaves to the Caribbean. Jerk has zero roots in "plantations" or with African blacks, slaves, or west African cuisine. Jerk itself uses all spice and scotch bonnet, both of which are native to those islands.

@@misiageb at least in my family we usually get it as takeout, but they do sell like a jerk seasoning mix in the store that you can use if you wanted to make your own at home. It's still good but not as good as the drum pan chicken.

I remember being on vacation with my family in Montego Bay, Jamaica & my Dad and I happened to slip away to a bar (away from my Mom & brother) for just a bit. Outside the bar, there were two Jamaican guys and they asked us, "What do you need? I am the "pharmacist" and my friend here is the "doctor"." *great times, LOVE Jamaica and the wonderful people/culture there*
