My favorite drummer, hands down. So much respect for this man.

As a drummer, and someone who also has red light fever (which I didn't know was something that other people had besides me, until watching this video) I can't even begin to explain how grateful I am that Nick was open and honest about anxiety, especially with regards to drumming. I also appreciate hearing that he finds playing alone boring, I thought that was just me. Hearing things like this from such an amazing, accomplished and admired drummer really helps me feel better about my own weaknesses with regards to drumming.

At the same time its scary to think that 6 months after starting the drums he was able to do things fingers in the nose that just a few hard workers struggle to practice. I mean he surely use to practice a lot, but if you listen the first Cradle album he already had the speed and power and his crazy signature fills. That's the talent factor.

One of my alltime favourite drummers out there! You've been a huge inspiration on my playing, still listen to the Dimmu albums alot. The detail in your playing get's me every time. Also Lock Up's Necropolis is an awesome album! Met you one time in Holland where my band played support for Lock Up in the Dynamo venue in Eindhoven, Holland. You guys played an awesome show! Keep doing what you do Mr. Barker!

Interesting interview , he is right , practicing any music instrument by oneself can be right down boring & ineffective , jamming is the right way to practice , feeding each other ideas help to develop as a musician .

Nick if you see this, I have a shitty job and that song The Soul Receiver from In Defiance of Existence is infinite. Every time I am at the dumpster I stare at the sun and the song is like the first time I heard it every time.

One of the world's greatest percussionists turns out to be a wise honest humble person who refuses praise and talks straight on the level to the rest of the human race from sea level and not from pretentious and invented needs for elevated altitude. This attitude is to be aspired to by all of us, though his musical talents remain beyond all of our reaches: musical stars along with the rest of us would do well to listen up to Nicholas.
