The doowoop god is he eugene pitt he's been the loyalest singer out from the 50s hes the greatest to do this music from the start eugene is a lot of people hero and some of his biggest fans base to this day is white people and my uncle never talk or treated them like they treated us he said to me one day man when you use music as a weapon of choice and it put people in pne room for one common cause and its all love in that room you won the battle with love and music and thats one of the reasons hes my first hero i knew of in my life my great. Wow!!! One of my all time favs. Watching them perform this song after so many years and marveling at how GOOD they still sound - harmony impeccable. This song was out in 1961, and they are still tearing it up. I LOVE IT!!! Thank you, gilltorres, for posting this unforgettable performance. I'll never forget when our 8th grade was visiting the high school we were about to enter in the fall. One of the seniors dropped a coin into the Nicholdean and played this song "My True Story". That was in 1961. For some reason I have always thought of this snapshot in time. Eugene Pitts had one of the best falsetto voices ever. Last I saw him was on a PBS special starring a lot of the oldies stars, along with Keith Richards of the Stones. In 2012, Eugene's signature song, and biggest hit, "My True Story" became the title song for Aaron Neville's "doo wop" album which I purchased. . Eugene was hand picked for the project by co-producer Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, The producers and Neville asked Eugene to pick the other background.singers for the album. A PBS special was one result of the project. A "Go Fund ME" page was set up for Pitt when he passed away last year (2018).
