Johnny "Super" Stewart, winner of three National Speedcar Championships, was inducted into the Australian Speedway Hall Of Fame in 2007 and the Australian Motor Sport Hall Of Fame in 2017. This is his story as told by him in 1990.
Johnny passed away in 1995 aged 62.

Brings back so much in my life as a kid. Always went to the iconic Sydney Royale and sat in the lower section of the Members Stand to watch this master of the oval run the outside line. The 1966 Craven A Australian Championship was the one night I will never forget: to see "Super" Stewart come from dead last after that spin, fly on the outside against the fence to come from behind and win. It's great that a few cars he drove still survive, especially that magic Holden powered Aust 1 Trackburner.Thanks for posting this. It's brought back so many memories I lost over the years.

You look at the cars in this film, they grew rollbars, wider tyres, more power. And the chassis were starting to change as well. I was around as a spectator at Rowley Pk in that era. Golden era? Good crowds defenitly but the crowds were taken by TV. 10PM closing and numerous other things. I still think the 70s were better. Modern speedway leaves me a bit cold. New year 2020 and I have not been yet, ran 3 times last season with my Classic Super Mod. My turning point was a Murray Bridge Sprintcar night where the B Main took about 75 minutes,, sorry this is bullshit and I have not been very often since. 17/18 I went as a spectator, once, for the Street Stock Title. And 3 cars finished that!

Good to see, except why didn't you use engine sounds, rockabilly and C&W for the soundtrack? The soundtrack you have is too loud anyway, in my opinion.

Johnny stewart got ripped off for this story on his life,was supposed to get paid royaltys and a fee and was never paid a red cent by the people who made it.
