Joker is a fantastic movie, but the best 2019 film? Really? 1917, Parasite, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire, are better than Joker. And don't telling me film is *entirely* subjective as in to countermand any criticism, since after all they're mere opinions right? Ofc not! There's objective ground wherein all the subjectivities sprout fromward. After all there's still in a sense, “objectivity”, viz., technics, writings, character arcs, thematisation, etc.; that's why we could confidently say Godfather >> Jack and Jill.

Topboy is an amazing series and both that and Joker utilise the violence convey a serious message, which is why people being offended about it is hilarious. When movies like Deadpool are far worse in terms of normalising extreme violence, and yet due to the comedic tone thats deemed more acceptable.

Nice vid Mark, I didnt love the film as much as you and although I liked the messages of mental health some of the other areas were slightly underwritten for me. Joquain Phoenix was great but some of the plot elements were a bit weak imo. Good film and I loved what type of film they were going for, definitely worth a watch and who doesnt like the Joker anyways?

Ledger was a much better Joker. Joaquin joker is more human. Ledger was a level above Coz of the dark Knight story it's not because of batman but that level of insanity and unpredictability that ledgers joker had was something else

Joaquin's character was more about how the human side of Arthur fleck turned into the vicious joker we saw in the dark knight his character here was not about unpredictability his character was the back story for joker

This joker is not a totally insane nutjob, he's pushed into that headspace because of what he suffers and he didn't kill for fun and wasn't exactly going to be enjoying the idea of having someone like batman. whereas the ledger joker was a lot more cunning evil and smarter and enjoyed having the batman around
