AUTUMN KINGDOM MOD CREATED BY DF SUPREME DF MODDER, SQUAMOUS: www.patreon.com/c/themodsmith/posts I had some trouble with this upload. A musician I was working with copied the melody from a pre-existing song, so I couldn't upload the video to KZbin without running into issues. I ended up having to cut out a large portion of the ending, which prominently featured the song. Unfortunately, that part included a lot of the behind-the-scenes content I usually include at the end of an episode. To clarify, I'll provide some additional episode information here in this pinned comment. This was a Dwarf Fortress episode, believe it or not. I played DF last year in the Autumn Kingdom as an adventurer named Mie Dalebean. As I played, I followed a one-in-game-day-per-real-day approach, writing a journal entry after each session. I posted these entries in my Kruggsmash Discord channel, along with photograph-style illustrations. I wanted to make a video detailing her adventures but struggled to find a format that worked. Eventually, I started falling behind on the journal posts. Despite that, I remained curious about what Mie Dalebean was up to. So, this year, I picked up the game again and created a new character, Zackney. I thought it would be fun to have Zackney act as a stand-in for the viewer. I do not know what happened to Wybend. As far as I can tell, the guy just blinked out of existence. Even checking legends more didn't tell me anything. I suppose thats just how things go sometimes. Admittedly, it's a bizarre story format, and I'm not sure it was entirely successful, but I hope it made you feel something. I always enjoy taking the fractured parts of game events and shaping them into something more. It’s always a fun time. Ooh, and if you haev any questions about the episode please feel free to ask!

Maybe Wybend crossed to another realm? (like, to another save file.) Or it became bits of information within the world itself. That could be part of the gameplay in a way. Very interesting mystery.

You should really consider writing/crafting a graphic novel or illustrated book one day. Over the years you've grown remarkably as a storyteller to the point that you've mastered the craft; of a legendary skill level, one could say. Heck, if you wanted to you could probably snatch yourself some serious cheddar writing and illustrating picture books for children.

Once. Just once. I went deep into this world. Past the "forest" with giant spiders and rats. Deeper. There was something behind the blue stones. The scythes of the farmers were not enough. Almost no one escaped, and they don't like yalling about what they have seen there. . I don't dig anymore in the fall kingdom. I farm cotton, grapes, and grains. And that's it.

Always a pleasure to check back in on the pumpkins and the Autumn Kingdom. I have to say Krugg, you and Mrs. K really knocked it out of the park with the art on this one. The different styles between the present day, Mae's daguerreotypes, and the sketches in the journal were all so distinct but perfectly fitting. And the scenes as well; I especially liked the pumpkin shaped lamps in the bookstore, a really neat little touch.

Absolutely touching Krugg & Mrs K (& patreons), you have such a knack of bringing out the essence of what Dwarf Fortress is all about - making sense of a wacky, sometimes random world in your own way.

Since then I keep hoping for a new video around the season so Im always glad when we get one! I don't know how the new DF works with mods, but I hope to see that Autumn scenery and the pumpkin fellas in that style too someday. That said, this format is just perfection. Hope to see more of them next year!

I find it weird and for some unknown reason to say this, but i truely love and adore The Autumn Kingdom. It always gives me something i never knew i needed. A smile, a good cry, a cozy feeling. Always sad when it ends, but still happy it came. Deep down i know that eventually there will be no more Autumn Kingdom, but just like with real life we will always eventually visit a treasured place or state of mind for a final time, whether we realize it or not, it is better to be happy that it happened and cherish the memories. Thank you Krug, sincerely and deeply. ❤

Holy shit Krugg, you are an incredible storyteller, I’ve been playing adventure mode recently and it always frustrates me how the companions sometimes just disappear or walk away, but you managed to turn this into a sad and touching narrative that made me cry (talking about the good boy that went missing). The series of the Autumn Kingdom is really heart-warming, the atmosphere really reminds me of a RPG sistem called “Wanderhome”, a game that the adventures don't necessarily seek trill or grandiosity, but a place to call home. Recommend you to take a look, if not to play to inspire with th gorgeous art.
