I’m 31, and I just think it’s sad that at your talk on discernment, it was mostly older people who showed up. I wish more young people would go to talks like this! Thank you for what you are doing, Brother Casey.

Kolbe Disselkamp from an outsiders perspective, I think younger people don't participate because (in all respect) it seems tedious and most young people nowadays are considerably lazy, it doesn't capture their interest, most religious people I've seen people who will go to church but they aren't devout to the point that they will participate in most events, all in all I think it's just tedious or boring to younger people, especially since it sounds really long, again this is my perspective as someone who doesn't participate in these religions, just a young person.

eh....they're not at the TLM locally unless their parents take them, but I'm in a small city where people are pretty cynical anyway (and the TLM is in an even smaller village that requires a bit of a jog to attend at 8AM Sunday morning ... I'd have to leave home at 6 : 50AM to have 15 minutes prayer time before Mass). On the other hand, the TLM is well-attended in the nearest urban area, which is about an hour and a half away....but the attendees are the urbanites. Different cultures.

Had to leave this out there! As you likely know from your religious education; your devotion to things like poverty in the name of your mission has been one of the most refreshing things in the world- while I don’t feel called to ministry, I still feel called, and by your example, the change has been so sweet when it could have been bitter and poisonous. Next time you are in the neighborhood, I hope we bump into each other! Some years back the Novitiate for three of the Provinces was located on the property of the Friary. Some of us went to Saturday morning mass & stayed for a potluck breakfast. It was enjoyable. Know that I remember you & the Franciscan priests & brothers in my daily prayers. God Bless!

@ianrobinson89746 жыл бұрын
Reece, congratulations on coming into the Catholic Church. As you may know there are a number of places to go for vocation information and discernment. I feel the first best thing to do is have a deep and prayerful relationship with Our Lord and his Blessed Mother. I guess that you would belong to a Parish and subsequently a Diocese. Your Parish Priest would be a good start and subsequently the Diocesan Vocations Director. The non Diocesan Orders, like those which Deacon Casey belongs to, would probably have their our vocations contacts etc. Congratulations again! Peace and blessings for the Land of the Holy Spirit.

And if your being called to give it all away just like He did for us then lay your life down for the King who created everything but yet came here to rescue this fallen world we live in if you can talk to your preist if not contact a vocations director sometimes on the parish bulletin they list a number for vocations if not ask the office at your church

Just discovered the channel a couple of weeks ago and really enjoy your content. Do you still answer subscribers' questions? If so, my question comes from my perspective as a gay, liberal Anglo-Catholic (Church of England), and that question is, What do you think of... well, gay, liberal Anglo-Catholics? Is it a big thing for you that some Christians have no issue with being gay (ie, and not necessarily celibate)? Is it an annoyance that some 'Protestants' (I never use that term for myself, but I guess technically I am Protestant) identify as Catholic but not Roman Catholic? Is it kind of having your cake and eating it?
@BreakingInTheHabit6 жыл бұрын
Hi David, thanks for your questions. I don't really have a strong opinion about either issue, and really, I try to avoid sharing my opinions about things on this channel. The focus is to evangelize and catechize, and sharing how I feel personally about something is not an interest of mine.
@davidlrattigan6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for answering. I guess the fact you don't feel you need to have or express a strong opinion answers the question in itself, and it suggests to me you are really focused on what is important - the gospel and living a life that is mindful of God and others, and encouraging others in doing the same. Keep up the good work. Hoping to read your book at some point!

>there were graduates there so we celebrated them with all due respect, Brother Casey, Mass is not about celebrating or congratulating ourselves. It is about humbling ourselves before God. The achievements of man can be acknowledged after the Holy Sacrifice. Mass is about God, not about us.
@BreakingInTheHabit6 жыл бұрын
And with all due respect to you, billy bob, this is a perfect example of why Jesus tells us not to judge. While you are right in what you say--the mass is about God, not about us--you have let your assumption about the situation lead you to criticize the celebration incorrectly. The fact of the matter, as you can see in the video, is that we celebrated them outside of church, after the mass was over. Nothing about the mass led anyone to believe that they were the focus of our celebration. Further, the mass is a communal act of worship, meaning that it is about what God is doing with/for/as US, not to any individual, and so it is not only important but necessary to call to mind the intentions of the community and recognize those present.
