Unless you’re going to be at minimums from private to commercial, part 141 isn’t worth it IMO. Extra cost for stage checks, and waiting for them is a progress killer. Plus I read the horror stories of some 141 programs holding people back over very silly things. Nickel and dime them for as much money as possible. I did 61 PPL, 141 IRA, 61 commercial. Time building for 61 is great experience to a CRM environment and you can explore. Plus you split cost, Cheapest hours you’re going to get. 55 hours of dual plus plane rental in 141 commercial killed the deal for me. Saved me about $9k going back and building hours for 61. I quit my career, moved my family to a different state and went all in on training. Still grinding everyday to keep moving forward! Best of luck to everyone out there!

WOW I am a CFI II MEI R and I started flying at 16 and earned my private at the age of 17. My Private was earned in 1977. I went to college and earned my ratings in 4 years. Back in 1982 pilots were flying for free to earn hours. Many were broke and living under the bridge. The airlines had thousands of military pilots and if you were a civilian pilot, you had no chance of getting an airline job. The only way to get your 500 hours in a Multi engine time, was you paid for it out of your pocket. At that time there were 10 to 1 ratio instructors to students. I went to the Army and graduated from Aviation Rotary Wing course. After Army training, I still need to buy my Multi engine time. So, at that time bills needed paid and after $1,100.000.00 ( military and my costs) in training the airlines were still out of reach.
@Joeymiuccio15 күн бұрын
Yea thankfully times have changed since then. I’ve heard many stories like this from some of my captains and it’s always wild to hear them. You guys really had to earn it the tough way and I’m blessed to be where I’m at this early in my career

Nope! Just make the switch and go all in if it’s your dream. Still plenty of time to have a long career in aviation

Did you work while flight training to help with living expenses? If so, what did you do /any recommendations?

Did you do loans for flight training? If so I’d love a video breaking that down

I was lucky enough to have saved enough from working to pay for it. But the school I recommend here does do loans if needed

Hi, Joey I’ve been really enjoying your page! My question is how did you pay for flight school? I wish there was some federal student loan but unfortunately all I’m seeing is private loans and I’m worried about the interest payments. Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Hello Joey, I’m an airline pilot as well, how do you stay motivated and consistent with your workouts? I’ve been eating clean and exercising for the past 8 months but I struggle sometimes specially when away from home I find myself eating not so clean because sometimes is just almost impossible or not being consistent with my workouts just because schedules are not always great. Thanks and thanks for your content, very inspiring

I usually have a goal on the horizon and that keeps me motivated. When you’re following a plan it’s makes it easy to just do and not overthink

Do you have any tips on getting prepped for the oral portion of the checkride? I was looking at the ACS and it seems like a lot of stuff. How did you manage your time to study the knowledge portion?

I would talk to your CFi about this. They should have great tips considering they recently went through it
