One of the things I love about my church is that we do have all of the women together in one group. It is called the Relief Society. I love that we work together to serve those who need relief. Unless she requests otherwise, each sister in our church is assigned two "ministering sisters," who have a special mission to love and help her in any way she needs it. Sometimes it's just being a listening ear, sometimes it's through an encouraging note, and sometimes it's a meal when there is sickness or a new baby. Countless times, I have benefitted from the wisdom of women who were more experienced than I was (in marriage, in motherhood, or just in life). I am so grateful to have access to their help. I wish everyone could experience this system of love. I truly believe it was created under the direction of our loving God.

Love doesn't have to be a system though. You can help people because you want to help or to please God, not because you are obligated. You can also take a break from helping when you're in a busy season of life. My LDS friend was very surprised to find that the women's event I had invited her to was made possible by volunteers or people who had the talent for it. I told her I didn't help because I had young children and a nursing baby and because I wasn't very good at the things/didn't enjoy the tasks needed for that event.

I agree wholeheartedly about the separation at church. We need to bring the older and younger generations together. What a help that would be. Thankfully I make sure to speak with them and have them as friends, but others may not. Thank you for bringing that topic up. ❤

The daily choice that you talked about is true for my life. The mornings, afternoons, and evenings that I make that whole heart decision of serving my family I find that I am given such conviction to continue improving the way I serve them. But the days that I am not conscious of this important promise and hope to serve them I am disconnected, full of business, and emotionally not in a good place. I didn't grow up with a mother really at home or want to be home, I have really had to constantly ask God to hold my hand and guide me in this way. Its been times of challenge but so full of freedom. The freedom that it is unique and special to the relationship I have with my husband and each of my five children. God is the reason for this. It is his love and mercy for me. I am so thankful for the ability to be vulnerable with God and how he has shown me things that I can work on in the right steps for me. He is such a personable and detailed God. Thanks for discussing this!!! I just moved across the country three weeks ago and I pray that I can connect with other women and ladies to form relationships to challenge me to be a better women, wife, and mother. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and as you were describing your desire for the church to have women of all ages together in church service, I realized that that is exactly what the Relief Society is! In my faith women 18 and older join the largest and oldest organization for women in the world. Organized and led by faith-filled women. We gather together in our congregations on Sunday after sacrament service to learn together and from each other. We also partner with each other in organized service to women and families in our area in an effort called “ministering”. The church you choose is very personal, but if you are looking for the kind of women’s support system you described look up a congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints near you. Congregations are all across the globe.
