MMM! the lovely taste of cotton balls. Your facial expressions says it all John. You know I have always contended that tobacco blends are kind of like aging wine in that if the vintage is crappy to begin with, no amount of aging will help it. I took our jar to our local pipe club and those undaunted souls that were brave enough to try it. . . . I don't think one of them was able to finish the bowl. Happy fourth. Fire up some haunted bookshop to cleanse your taster. Doug.

Finding the correct descriptive analogies is not real difficult here...cotton ball mouth is right on and the dirty gym socks taste is awfully close.

Believe it or not, this leaves no after taste. The citrus flavor is short lived and the nasty flavor is only present in the actual smoke and that goes away with the smoke itself.

Hiya John!! After viewing your reviews on Bacon Old Fashion, (still recovering from laughter), I recall many years ago there was a blend called Brush Creek. It was the most vile and rancid tobacco, and it left an aftertaste like iodine,,,, BLECHHHH!!!!!! A more recent blend I experimented with is Mac Barens USA release of Amphora Full Aroma. Well...years back my father and then myself smoked the Douwe Egberts version. The pouch note was simply awesome and the smoke was a chocolatly cherry flavoring. EVERYONE knew you were smoking Amphora Red and highly approved. Then it was gone sadly. Forward to the rerelease, I was overjoyed that it had returned!! I told my wife ITS BACK!!!!!! I have a wife that appreciates pipe smoking. The day it arrived, it was almost a religious experiance. I handled the box gingerly, held the presious pouches in my hands and gave thanks. Upon opening the pouch, the cut, the feel of it was exactly as I remembered. Then came the wiff test....my nose curled. Oh well its prolly much better then it smells. It wasent. A bitter sort of rasberry flowery stench emitted from the bowl and mouth. My wife commented softly... WTF is that and how much did it cost this time!!!!... Cowering in my chair I delved to find any reminisance of the Douwe Egberts age old version. Non could be found. 20 quatlues in the piss can. As you mentioned, there are reviews of blends that people actually like a tobacco, all I can think is that they are lap dogs of suppliers that get free samples to promote.

Believe it or not John, two years of watching you do this has made me want to try it quite badly! I have always had a thing for unusual blends, and I really loved P&C's Vermont Meat Candy (which also featured smokey dark fired for a "bacon-y" punch). And you know what, knowing me... I'll probably end up liking the stuff. If I don't... it might truly be un-smokable. 🤔

Reminds me of the London Squire tobacco that I ordered from Smoking Pipes. It was latakia based. The taste was like a house fire. You could taste and smell the burnt insulation, paint, and wiring. Terrible stuff. L.O.L! Take care buddy! Happy fourth.

What would you recommend for myself who wants to start smoking a pipe? I have some experience, but got turned off by strong tobacco that to me, seemed "hot", or strong. Well Stephen, in my experience, I would recommend you get a hold of some Velvet. I can't think of an easier blend to smoke. Carter Hall is another one that's fairly easy to smoke as well.

Cavendish is usually (not always) burley leaf since it soaks up flavors well and burns cool. For who ha's you might try ordering 2 ounces of sweetened black cavendish...sort of tastes like burned marshmellows.
