If you pause every panga hit the big red sheel, in actual level the sheel was IN the one-way gate by a pixel, but in remade level the sheel was OUT the one-way gate. 33:50 Yeah definitely a jank moment.

Possibly old physics, used to play a lot. After hitting a koopa out of there shell there is a minimum amount of time you have to wait before you can bounce off of it. The indicator is trying to say go wide. Because of how fast you are falling, and activating the thwomp is moving the shell up, you are moving through the shell in the same place you "would" bounce if enough time has passed. That's why your line ups were sometimes working. When you let go of jump, you fell slower and changed thwomp activation.

I can definitely relate to Panga about that giant red shell lol. There must be something behind the game coding as to why some tricks and movements only work on certain obstacles and mechanisms way more than others

A few things I noticed. The large red koopa shell has a lot more side to side movement in the original level compared to your recreated level. The times you were successful, Toddette's foot was just above the corner of the p-switch block. It seems you were actually higher when you let go of jump in those last few attempts. Thanks Panga!

Correct. When the shell goes through the block that it's supposed to bounce back from, it's going up and right. When it works, the shell is going right or down and right. I don't know why it goes through the block when it's going up and right, it could be because it hits the block higher, or less of the shell hits the block, or if it is that way because the shell is going up, or some janky Nintendo math. So, if you let go of jump at the right time, like Panga did in the end, you'll hit the shell when it's on it's maximum height instead of while it's lower and it's still going up. I guess the level creator was just super consistent and didn't notice it. That's why it's good to get other people to test your level, they don't have your muscle memory :)

Yep, noticed that too. Every time he got it to work the shell was centered between the one-way and the wall. Every time it didn’t work it was off center towards the one-way. It seems like it depends on how you first land on the shell.

Game's janky D: I remember building a level. Was done, at START was a POW going off and a 50-coin from a cliff slides to the RIGHT to fall down so you grab it. When I added something in the END (max horisontal building length).. the 50-coin now slides to the LEFT, and do NOT fall down to be able to be grabbed. Game's so weird😂😭

My guess for why it why it wasn't working is that the set up is sending the shell up to you rather than you falling down to it (since the first shell jump is just falling and it worked every time). In order for you to bounce off the shell you have to be falling rather than rising, and holding jump here means that you hit the shell almost exactly at the peak of your jump. If the physics in the level are different than they are now, then that means the tiniest change to falling speed or jump velocity would be enough to mess with the timing and let you do the trick consistently

Whilst the description does say "full jumps" you can achieve this by not holding jump. If you hold one of the bumpers then it forces you to do a max height jump and thats probably what the creator was doing

That's tough bro. ------- That level was uploaded in 2020 I remember Panga showing an old level that had really easy pow drop jumps because it was uploaded a long time ago and the physics stayed the same as the old version of SMM2 even tho Panga was playing with tge most updated version of the game Any chance that the fact that the level is from 2020 means that the reclaimer was more difficult back then and easier/more consistent now when Panga tried to recreate the level? I think its not your x coordinate. I think its the y. In the editor, you got it to work consistently when you moved the ledge up. I think that the setup is giving you some difeerent jump heights and its changing whether you bounce off or through the shell. Youre not getting max height jumps some times.

@@bobby4twunless homeless you are already paying for electricity if you use your phone to watch videos the main reason to have one is communication if you use a console mean reason is gaming if you use a pc you can do more than just watch videos, from gaming to work and if you only use it for entertainment well gaming also can go in there and not many would buy a PC just to watch video if you mean a TV that can connect to the internet then you could argue that you bought this electronic device only for watching video or bought an adaptor for it like a roku so an old tv can connect to the internet... sort of and due to how society work nowadays internet is pretty much a must for communicating or you can just hook onto the public wifi if you are brave enough so while not everything is in youtube, it is still free to watch since all of the costs (electricity, device, internet access) are already something associated with another need unless you remove the ads by other means which youtube is blocking now you can argue you pay with the time you watch the ads and if you pay for premium then it is not free anyways

Holding jump makes you fall ever so slightly slower. Which could account for the jank. The creator of the level could have a habit of letting go of the jump button as Mario falls and thus never noticed the jank. And since this level is uploaded in 2020 updates and patches could have changed the physics to remove the jank from the setup. This is obviously all speculation but it's my best guess as to what happened.

If I understand this correctly, I'm pretty sure the shell was too high to detect the wall and trigger the SMM 1-up trick hack. The bottom pixel or so of the shell should be below the top of the wall so that the game detects the wall to the side when you kick the shell, but the shell still clears the wall after being kicked.

I feel like having the semisolid in the bg is making you inconsistent, messing up your lineup which is why you were failing more often with it in place and in the level itself, otherwise it is definitely possible physics changes have some effect and in your rebuild you seem to get less height going into the on/off wall
