Thank you for posting this in it's original form. My father is Richard Muse who played Richard Hill. In real life he and Toby were good friends. I even worked down at the shop cleaning Toby's cars. The Magnum that was used in this movie was one of the cars I worked on. It was a salvage car that had the interior all burned up. I cleaned it all up they repainted the car and it looked great. I was happy to see that one destroyed as it really smelled bad inside.

Badass rods, badass babes, badass REAL stunts, see-through script, filmed on a princely budget for the time, and edited as if H.B. Halicki was given a DARPA prototype Adobe Premiere Pro that somehow ran on a Tandy IIe. Never seen this before but as a fan of Needham flicks, Deathrace 2000, and CHiPs, this hits so many high notes. And it's in 1080 w/ the original music to boot! Thanks so much posting!

Watching this movie again in 2021. Toby Halicki seemed to be a really cool guy. Love that scene when he's lighting his cigar and the goodyear blimp passes by: "Morning Nick!".

I saw the 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds movie when I was 17 (1978). Last night I watched it again. I was curious about who wrote that screenplay and found it interesting/ admirable that the guy who acted as the insurance investigator and moonlighted among the car thieves was the guy who wrote, produced, directed and also performed as a stunt driver! That's mind blowing! This learning led to some research to find out all I could about him and from there here I am. Although Halicki made this Junkman film in 1982 it has a nice 70's feel to it. Movies back then, like the times, were special. And the special guest star none other than the Bufurd T. Pusser actor lol
@d-d-i Жыл бұрын
His movies basically didn't have any scripts, as they were mostly about improvized car stunts and chase scenes. Only scripts they wrote was for some dialogue scenes basically, rest of it was so simple that he just kept it in his head or invented stuff on the go as they shot it.

Back in the early 90s my dad got this on VHS, and me and my siblings watched the hell out of it, loved it much more than any of the cartoons on TV. I got the DVD collection when I discovered there was one, but was dismayed at what had happened to both the soundtrack and the dialogue - and the lacking radio host on the old lady's radio. I'm grateful to find a true restoration of it here on KZbin, thank you so much for bringing back one of my childhood favorites.

I totally love this classic.It will be a flip of the coin as to which is more spectacular,this or the 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds which I thought this was the Sequel to.Until earlier tonite when I watched the 33 Minute OFFICIAL Gone in 60 Seconds 2.Mind you I bought Junkman on DVD in New Zealand and the Soundtrack on that copy is completely different.None of the Rockabilly style but more like the Soundtrack of the 1974 film.Also it doesnt heve the Evangelist speech on the Little ol Lady driver's Radio.I think i prefer my copy for Soundtrack,it ties in much better with Gone in 60 Seconds 1974,but hey thanks for the upload of this.Great Quality visual and Audio of a wonderful movie.

SpacemanDoug, i just gotta ask. I saw this as a little kid. And i remember several different things about the soundtrack. For example. The scene where the frenchmen crashes down the hill, it was playing some "funny french folk song" (?) That speeded up the further down they got. And at the end creditz, they had Freddy Cannon singing "He's a junkman, he's a junkman" (as i recall it sounded related to let's put the fun back in Rock'n roll but with diffrent lyrics). This was in Europe. And i know i'm not dreaming cause my brother remembers it. And Imdb used to have "He's a junkman" on the soundtrack listing but now it's gone. Seems like there were two (?) Versions with different soundtrack.
@lunaracc9145 жыл бұрын
@@deeklithgow1765 yes starting with the DVD release (Gone in 60 Seconds and Deadline Auto Theft saw the same fates) the soundtrack was heavily altered, a bunch of sound effects replaced, and at times the dialogue was modified, the version presented here restores the original audio
@deeklithgow17655 жыл бұрын
@@lunaracc914, sorry for the late reply. But i was talking about the Junkman having a complete diffrent soundtrack (the original release in Sweden) on Vhs. As far as i can remember. Two things were different from the american release. The end credz soundtrack wich has a song by Hoyt Axton was replaced by a Freddy Cannon song "He's a junkman" (unreleased). It was a really cool track. As i said, i think it resambled "lets put the fun back in rockn roll". And the scene where the frenchmen goes down the hill, they played a classic tune that got speed up the further down the hill they got (instead of the freddy cannon song that is on the american release.). If only freddy cannon had hardcore fans like the beach boys. The info would have gotten out there (sorry for my bad english.. you know Swede+a few beers) all the best to you!
