What comes to a lot of people's mind when domestic abuse is mentioned is verbal abuse and physical assault. Locking up her shop and destroying her equipment is a form of control. He blocked her source of income and this is financial abuse. He also abused her emotionally by ignoring her. Financial/emotional abuse is just as terrible as physical assault. Allegations of this nature should not be taken lighly!!

For me, the man is using plenty smooth English to lie. The only thing why the Judge won't grant divorce is because there is really no serious or cogent reason for that. What they need is a counselor, or to counsel themselves, after all, the major hidden and unspoken factor to their quarrels is the issue of childlessness at the moment. What that woman needs is someone who will understand her pain and reassure her that he is with her no matter what. Good luck to them.

Damaging her equipment and locking her shop is another form of domestic violence! He has no right to lock her her equipment and lock her store while not providing for her. He only paid for one year rent and she bought all the equipments and continued paying the rent. The judge is too partial in this case.

like she is here talking about how women who foot the entire bill do not talk about it so she should not. she also mentioned how can she want to break up a 4yr marriage. marriage is not a do or die affair. she has no kids holding her down. even if she does, if a marriage is no longer bringing u joy and security, u need to start checking it out. @@knix9014 My husband and I got married when we were 18 and 19 years old. We have five children. We are in our late 60s now. I live in one state and he in another. One child is deceased at the age of 32, leaving 3 beautiful grand children in the care of their mother and stepfather. Our children were more distressed with and by our wishy-washy, back and forth relationship than if we had divorced. I stayed for my family only to find out my kids were not impressed. The couple in question have NO CHILDREN. It would behoove them to STOP PLAYING with their own hearts and move on. Just saying.

Divorce is not automatic in Nigeria law. The judge must first try to reconcile them, thats the law. That’s the first step towards either full reconciliation or divorce. It could go either way

Usually, I firmly stand in agreement with Judge Funmi, HOWEVER, I feel she didn’t address the husband’s blatant lies. He can’t even answer the question straight on whether he loves his wife! When it comes to a side chick, he trips over his words trying to find the right thing to say! And who violently locks a shop after an argument?? What happened to talking it through as adults?? In my opinion, she’s had enough. I agree everyone should work on their marriage, and no marriage is 100% rosey. But thsis man seems dodgy.
