Maybe a too nuanced take here, but I don't think that these books were made for actual children at all. The infantilization and coddling of Millennials and Gen Z has been pretty apparent in the last 15-20 years. I think these books were made in the context of a more circle-jerky, echo chamber kind of approach. Understanding the psyches of the weak and fragile, these messages make more sense for somebody with a basic understanding of politics (which isn't young children, even teenagers at that) and people who just like to get their news from headlines or people who can't handle reality outside of their own scope. Unless they have the worst marketing department ever, they know exactly who their target demo is here; most likely extreme leftist parents who will only want to teach their kids this kind of "history". If they can also get some actual children on board the zombie train, the better for their continued push of a controllable population.

The funniest thing about this book is that kids of the intended age group literally do not comprehend any of this stuff whatsoever... kids don't know where southeast Asia is or why it matters that she's black, or even what the vice president does....

You'd be surprised. Children theses days know why they're bad people because of their skin. They know that any comment the most tangentially related to people or a culture that is the right colour makes you a racist. They know a lot of stuff.

I don't believe in book burning, but... the only value this book would have is as firewood. Seriously. I'd say this book has no educational or entertainment value, even for the target demographic. But it would be more accurate to say it has NEGATIVE educational value. It will actually make people STUPIDER! And well... it at least has entertainment value for people outside of its target demographic, to laugh at.
