I think the 3peat happens. I've the Chiefs as my preseason pick to win the Super Bowl. All of the obvious talking points with the Chiefs, both good and bad, have been talked to death. One of those points I do want to touch on however is that I do not think losing Sneed will be as impactful as people think. I trust Spagnuolo to coach and scheme up the young DBs they're looking to "next man up" to fill the void left by Sneed. On offense, the only concern really is RB depth. I do LOVE Isiah Pacheco and think he's the most underrated RB in the entire NFL and I'm happy to see that the Chiefs appear to see that themselves and are positioning him to possibally have a career season. That said, CEH, while a decent RB in his own right, does have his issues and limitations and to have only spare parts and young proiject types behind those 2 is, at best, a gamble. But if there's any team I trust to find a way to make that work, it's the Chiefs. Above all else, I think Patrick Mahomes knows how much accomplishing the 3peat and being the only QB to ever do it will impact the GOAT debate and I see him channling that into motivation for the season and the team. That, on top of everything else, is just too much for me to ignore.

Prior to the 2023 season they had a plan for Toney, Skyy Moore, Richie James, and MVS to take a next step. Obviously, that didn't materialize and in fact they went backwards and hurt the team in multiple key situations, resulting in the highest turnover margin and most drops in the NFL. They rolled the dice with those guys and lost, big time. Patrick Mahomes had 7 catchable passes intercepted during the regular season last year per PFF. Literally half of his INTs were balls that should have been caught. However, as the year progressed and they realized this plan was not working they adjusted, and guys like Justin Watson and and late addition Mecole Hardman allowed them to get by, along with Travis Kelce and Isaih Pacheco of course. The progression of Rashee Rice was also a key element to their offensive production down the stretch. The key to last year's team was the defense. They didn't cause many turnovers, but they kept the Chiefs in striking distance, and that's essentially all you need when you have Patrick Mahomes. They did lose LJ Sneed and have some questions at CB2 coming into this year, but ultimately I think they will be a top ten defense in the league barring catastrophic injuries.

Thanks SO much for your comprehensive video overview of the upcoming season for the Chiefs and I'm also glad that you included Cole's perspective. I'm subscribed to his "How bout those Chiefs" podcast. And I Liked this video and subscribed to your channel and will look at more of your videos. I could tell that you are a Minnesota Vikings fan and I have been watching the NFL since the days of Fran Tarkenton and Len Dawson. AND, the crazy thing with the Chiefs is that Mahomes is just 83 yards behind Len Dawson for the most passing yards ever in Kansas City, in just over half as many games as Len Dawson played. Granted, the NFL is more pass heavy now, but that's still quite a feat. And Tarkenton is the leading passer for Minnesota and #2 - Tommy Cramer has over 8,000 yards less and Kirk Cousins has over 10,000 yards less. The Vikings had a great season in 2022 with 13 wins, what happened in the playoffs? Did the Eagles knock them out? Last year was tough for them, but I hope your Vikings have a come back season this year. GO Vikings!!
@JohnClarkW2 ай бұрын
That was the worst year of Mahomes career, and he won on the road against the top 2 AFC seeds ( showing he could win on the road in January ). They get tested with the Ravens, Bengals, Falcons, and Chargers in their first four games. They have a bye before the 9ers in October, and then get into a softer part of the schedule. From week 8 through 18 the toughest opponents are the Texans, Browns, and Bills. I think they are going to threepeat, and the defense will be top 5 again. They look like a 13 or 14 win team, and KC will likely host the AFCCG for the 6th time in 7 years.
@JohnClarkW2 ай бұрын
I also think Chiefs fans need to remember that this year Patrick will likely crack into the top 50 for passing yards of all time.

MVS and KT were trash last year. Replacing them with even average players = addition via subtraction. The fact that this year it will be Hollywood Brown & Worthy replacing them = massive upgrade. Loss of Sneed and Gay will hurt. Sneed was a stud for KC. Phenomenal tackler who could destroy plays on the CB blitz and really good in soverage... that is a tough player to replace. Mahomes CAN still score 5000 yds/50 TD's every year. He just doesn't need to anymore, because the defense is good. In 2018 when he had his 50 TD's, the offense was #1 in the league and the defense was dead-last (or close, depending on what metrics you use). Andy Reid only scores as much as he needs to. If he has a big lead in the first half, they'll go into vanilla run-out-the-clock mode in the second. That's why the Chiefs never have blowout wins, even though they're capable of it.

I honestly think Worthy is being UNDER hyped right now. Mahomes is on a mission. We know how ultra competitive he is-and he knows that getting a threepeat will be huge in the GOAT debate. On top of that, you know he felt slighted by being named the fourth best player, and second best QB. The offense could be elite, the defense will still be excellent even with a little regression, and they have the best QB, coach, and Tight End in the game. I’m glad I’m a KC resident and fan-because I don’t think the rest of the NFL has a chance this year.

CHIEFS can go as far as Mahomes can take them. They had some good talent fall to them in this year's draft, due to the glutony of the Pandemic holdover college players coming out in the draft. The Free agents picked up in the offseason don't really ensure the Chiefs of a 3-Peat. A Tope Level Wide-Receiver / an additional Edge-Rusher / a Top Cornerback to replace L'Jarius Sneed would have increased their potential to get to the Super Bowl again. Chiefs should have been selling out for THIS SEASON aLone & wait a Year to Resign any current Players Longterm. That strategy worked for the 2018-2019 LA Rams. Andy said he wasn't changing his approach this year, which will prove to be a big mistake.

This defense is going to be significantly less reliable than last season. Losing Sneed is a HUGE hit. You're going to really feel it when you lose a CB that didn't give up a touchdown until the playoffs.The linebacker depth is awful. The drop off from Bolton is huge, and unfortunately, he is injured and on the verge of getting the dubious title of injury "prone". The offensive line is similar when it comes to the backups. They're horrible when it comes to run blocking and penalties. The WR's they put their stock in are NOT going to make it through the season without missing significant time due to injury. Brown folded on his very first play. Worthy has the frame of a high school sophomore. The only possibility of a SB win is Mahomes putting this team on his back, which because of the defense last year, he didn't have to. The red zone is Mahomes Achilles heel. He was excellent his first couple seasons, but now when they get inside the 20, you might as well just put Butker out there and get it over with.
@jasonr.95202 ай бұрын
Lol you're full of it! Our linebacker core is top 5 easily. Tranquil and Bolton are amazing and Chanel is turning into a hell of a player. Rice and Kelce will fucking eat underneath all day with worthy and brown pushing safety depth all game. Pacheco and Steele are excellent RBs and our interior line is the best in the league. Both our swing tackles are decent not great but not bad either. Our only weakness on defense is our corner depth. Buttt we have two very flexible players at safety that could play corner as well so idk man I disagree with your analysis.

Watson is what he is. He’s got good speed and he’s a nice 3 or 4 wideout, and he’ll have a solid career as such-but he’s not gonna get any better than that. Mahomes trusts him to make big plays, though. That’s a big deal.

@@AdamRiley20 we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on that. To be clear I'm not saying he's gonna be JJ next year but I think he could be like a Michael Pittman level WR. Fringe 1 great 2. With the chiefs he may not get the snaps for it this year but I think he has the talent for it.

Why was Mahomes able to become the first QB THIS CENTURY to lead the league in Passing (5,250), Passing TD'S (41), win MVP, the SB & SBMVP in the same year. Brady played 23 years & didn't do that.

The thing you're not talking about is the fact that they shouldn't have even been in the playoffs. 4 of their regular season games were handed to them on a silver platter by officiating. Just like their super bowl against the Eagles
