Steve Smith is one of my favorite receivers of all-time and as a Chargers fan, I would love for him to visit the team and talk to that young group of receivers, QJ, specifically. I remember QJ’s people not being fond of what Steve’s critiquing of him during the draft process but I’d love for them to have a man-to-man talk, and maybe even give him some advice. Who knows, Jim could be the one to bring them together. Maybe even a mentorship type of relationship that could come from something like that. You never know. Nothing brings men together like football. #boltup ⚡️

Chargers fan here. This is a log comment, but I think it's a fun thought exercise. I'm not sure what dude was on about with the horrible stat comparison. It seemed forced and not necessary to add. BUT, their rookie numbers through 8 games ARE darn close with Ladd edging out on catches and TDs. Let's also look at the eerily similar context that they share as rookies. Both have/had solid coaching staffs. Steve was playing for a new franchise that was on its way to a superbowl appearance in a couple years. Jake Delhomme was a solid but not spectacular QB. He also split targets with Muhsin Muhammad, who was a damn good receiver. And Sam Mills was a HoF running back. The defense had a hall of famer on the D line and solid overall talent. Herbert is flat-out elite. It isn't my Charger bias speaking. It's recognizing objective greatness. He will end his career with a gold jacket. The organization is experiencing a rapid rebuild, with the arrow currently pointing up. A good rushing attack is the offensive focus. Ladd is splitting targets with Josh Palmer, and (to my happy surprise) Quentin Johnston is playing significantly better. Khalil Mack is a guaranteed Hall of Famer, Bosa is borderline depending on how he closes out his career. Derwin James is in his prime and on his way to Canton if he keeps the same pace, and the rest of the LBs and secondary are all playing at a high level.
