“I think that bridge, at some point in 2024 will be gone… and if you can disrupt the other side’s logistics, prevent the flow of ammunition and fuel… then you’re going to win.”
The destruction of the Kerch Bridge is crucial to the liberation of Crimea and success of Ukraine in winning the war, explains Lieutenant General Ben Hodges.

@@Geo_Knows_Things it doesn't apply to Sun Tzu because, again, it's not technological. It's required reading in any course studying war strategy. The 3 most common book by far is Sun Tzu's "Art of War". von Clausewitz is 2nd with "On War". A distant third (if one of them is indeed 3rd) might be Liddell Hart's "Strategy" or Machiavelli's "The Prince". BTW, I don't make the curricula. That's just the way it is. Like if you're studying English literature, you start with Chaucer, then Shakespeare. Sun Tzu's relevance is the only reason you've ever heard of him. If he wasn't relevant, no one would know his name. Almost nothing is known of his life.

I’m one of the older Generation X members that grew up in the ‘80s and I share General Hodges’ frustration that “the Party of Reagan” basically tosses everything we did to win the Cold War over the Soviets out the window in order to cozy up to the current leader of the Russians who, by all accounts, is doing everything he can to bring the USSR back again. This is the first time I can recall hearing him swear in one of these clips; the actions of his government are clearly as confounding to him as they are to the rest of us.

Some Republicans will be able to say, "I didn't vote for the Ukraine bill" and some Democrats will be able to say, "I didn't vote for border security." Not lying, of course, but disingenuous. They need more qualified and truly experienced supporters in the US Government but I fear the coup clowns are in charge. This situation cannot be normal , it is definitely intolerable. I hope to meet you someday if time and travel permit. I have always wanted to revisit Heidelberg and Ziegelhausen. All Hodges predictions, all his forecasts and all his analysis, for the last two years, have been completely wrong. He's a warmongering Ukrainian cheerleader, who talks a good talk but he's completely divorced from reality and doesn't seem to understand Ukraine has lost this war already. He says Ukraine is going to win. I say they've lost already and we're all just waiting for them to bleed out enough, to realize it for themselves. He thinks the Russian defeat in the Black Sea is a decisive strategic setback. I say it's of no consequence. This is a land war of territorial conquest the maritime element is close to meaningless. It deprives Russia of just three, missile lobbing platforms, which in the grand scheme of things is next to nothing. He thinks Russia will be driven out of Crimea and Ukrainian territory. I say not only will Russia not be driven out, it will take a chunk more territory. I expect all land East of the Dnipro will be occupied by Russia, before it chooses to dictates terms of any ceasefire to Ukraine.

At around 28:00 Yes! I'm far from a lieutenant general myself, remove the general part and you have my humble self, younger, but still longer in retirement as an army officer. This is spot on. It's just plain weird how some western officers assume this ridiculously condescending attitude towards Ukrainian officers, on any level. Western countries have been teaching fundamentals to Ukrainians for a while. It's been a barely shorter while since I promised they will come back to teach us. They are fighting the kind of war we've been training for. Theory is valuable, theory corrected after practical experience is gold.

Going to Crimea is a fairytale at this point, even if they decide to deliver "everything needed" it will take months just for that equipment to arrive, not to mention that Ukraine is now in defensive and Russians captured placed like Marinka last week. If they secure all areas they captured so far there is exactly 0 chances for any push on Ukraine side, the best they can do is to keep their positions and nothing more.
