As a former Water Water Recovery Volunteer 1970's, I find this report insightful. Last week for the first time in many years I took a leisurely drive up the Canyon to reconnoiter and evaluate the Publics lunacy daring the river to sweep them away. The exact locations we experienced in the 1970's were then a problem, only, in todays dilemma, population increases have become and will continue to be a thorn both financially, as well as manpower intensive for the years to come. I honestly wanted so bad to stop, approach numerous subjects jumping off rock formations knowing the past efforts SAR teams experienced in recovery efforts to both river survivors, to sadly, many that were just balled-up grotesque basket ball sized water-logged human remains. But, I am older now, unable to climb those rocks anymore. Then of course, fear of being victimized by such tattooed over young men an women. I knew they were from L.A. Locals know better... Then, I see this film. Backs turned to youngsters playing only mere feet from suddenly finding themselves caught up in an undertow screaming for help as the older one's watch in horror. Then, observers jumps in to try their best, unfortunately the rivers current has no concern over feelings, prejudices, nor race... Its power sweeps away any and everything that enters its path, flowing violently till not one but four people in this camp are now suddenly lost to those currents. But its fun you see... Its so beautiful you see, even though, these people have already suffered before, same place, same circumstance, only now, water levels are higher than ever in many years... they still smile, an say, "Oh we are in control, its great!" Fools.
