Hi All. First, thanks Mark, Nsima, and Andrew. For having me on. I wanted to link the video on my KZbin where I respond to Layne (kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5rUZ2qtpbqbf9U). This wasn't going to be part of the conversation initially, but was not only brought up but highlighted in the opening. Fair enough. Drama sells. Name of the Game. But I think my provides context, if you're curious. It's not my MO to go into attack mode unprovoked. BUT, I have zero tolerance for bullies, and if my input (1) ads value/provides important clarification (2) the "bridge building" option has failed despite my efforts, then I will be "direct." Layne earned the response IMO. You can click the above link and see for yourself. As another exam, I see Mr Stan Efferding active in the comments, who has named me "dishonest" based on his misunderstanding of my arguments and positions. I've tried to clarify and have offered to engage in a long-form exchange. Below, I'm copying my reply. Feel free to assess for yourself if I'm being reasonable. And see if you can understand what Stan has not yet understood by watching the video linked below: "Stan, you're misrepresenting me. I presume this isn't intentional so let me explain: Calories in - Calories Out applies, i.e. thermodynamics holds true. However, that doesn't mean CICO is a pathophysiological model of obesity. CICO can be "true" while being primarily a downstream consequence of a primary disorder of fuel partitioning. Furthermore, CICO can always be post-hoc rationalized by "compensation" e.g. the NEAT to which you refer. You're not contradicting me. You're making my point. In other words, what you present as an inconsistency, I see as not only perfectly logical and consistent but a consequence of looking at obesity through the lens of physiology, rather than arithmetic. I'd be happy to elaborate. I've already offered to have a long-form discussion. If you insist on strawmannirg me, know that it will only serve me. For your education, you can start here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3zFqZewhbBrjZI" To everyone, know this: I can be a total Care Bear and Cuddle Bug. I prefer not to fight. I don't start fights. I will end them if I need to. That goes for Layne, Stan and anyone else. I leave it to them if they want to give me a chance to be an ally or they want to pick a fight they might regret. Is that a threat? I prefer to frame it as a pragmatism.

Went carnivore 5 months ago, the best thing I've ever done. All my stomach issues which were many are all gone. Every Health ailment is gone. The best part, is the brain fog, lethargy and tiredness is completely gone. Mental clarity and function improved out the roof. Im 60 and feel 30 again. I mountain bike 50 miles a week, lift weights every other day, its like getting a second youth. Stop grains, sugar and carbs now!! It will be the single most important thing you'll ever do.

I'm happy people are finally seeing how disingenuous Layne is. I had several arguments with him a few years back regarding keto and fasting on his Instagram. I call them arguments because he always degraded the conversation to that level when proven wrong. I think his attitude and appeal to authority are coping mechanisms for lack of intelligence or any information that hurts his ego.

At 48:00 you mention the ketogenic diet and influencers. It is very important to define what is the ketogenic diet. You don't want to contribute to the misinformation. A ketogenic diet is a diet that induces ketosis in a particular person. That is the simple definition - it has nothing to do with the amount of carbs. It is possible for a person not to enter ketosis on a zero carb lean protein diet. I'm one of those examples where I was eating zero carbs and still not entering ketosis. I was NOT on a ketogenic diet on my initial zero carb diet. I had to add a lot more fat to enter ketosis, and when I added fat then my diet was ketogenic for me. There are many influencers that have a special "keto" diet and tell people that ketosis is not a goal of their diet. When people talk about ketogenic diets it's best to focus on the ketones and not on the food. If they want to focus only on the food, just say low-carb.

It’s painful how dishonest Nick is. Claims “calories in Calories out” is not relative then describes his response to over feeding by describing an increase in NEAT (non exercise activity thermogenesis) which is part of the energy balance equation (ie Calories in calories out) 🤦♂️

@arikkatzenberg4498Ай бұрын
The fuel partitioning model of obesity is probably correct. The body is a homeostatic system that develops adaptations to keep one within a set-point. Obese people are really efficient at driving calories into fat stores which is probably why they’re hungry and tired most of the time. Athletic people are really efficient at driving calories into tissue or expelling it as co2. The question is , how does an obese person become athletic or an athletic person become obese?
