I don’t think it’s the fact that they are adding more content, it’s probably mostly to do with getting things to run smoothly. Don’t forget they’re literally making botw but with twice as much content and extended map so there’s probably difficulties getting it to run smoothly on the switch

Which makes me think both the hype and timing means this game is probably going to sell like crazy just like it's predecessor.

I'm glad you focused on what he said rather than the master sword, because that's what I'm most excited about too. Until he said "the expanded world goes beyond that," I wasn't holding my breath for anything besides going to the skies. However, now I'm much more willing to bet we get cave systems and underwater areas to explore. Fingers crossed that means dungeons too. I agree with you that I don't think we're getting a full underground map, but I would bet that there are some pretty big cave systems to explore. I would also bet that the BOTW map isn't expanded outwards, even into the ocean, but that we get new underwater areas in the existing ocean, Lake Hylia, and a few of the other deep lakes around Hyrule.

I'm really hoping we get some decent underground/underwater areas, it was the only thing missing in botw for me. His comments were pretty reserved, but I'm sure they could make a floating island underwater dungeon happen 😁 imagine OoTs water temple*/ skyward sword's ancient cystern but as a floating Island?! 🤩 Also the weird rock tentacle reminds me of a rock version of deku babas 🤔

That one Kass puzzle in the bay is just perfect for something Magnesis can't touch to have been nearby underwater. He even comments that what Link found doesn't seem like enough to match the description.

What stuck out to me the most from the footage was how the cross-guard of the Master sword is a light blue color instead of the usual dark purplish color that the hilt still is. It seems like a weird detail that could potentially be important.

It kinda looks more like it's reflecting the color of the glow that the blade is emitting to me, but I could be wrong.

I think that's the glowing blue light reflecting off it and making it _appear_ blue, not an actual colour change to the metal, as it appears that it's only blue like that in some areas and the colour appears to be pulsing in intensity. It would be pretty cool if I'm wrong and it is actually different, though, because that light blue reminds me a lot of the goddess-metal from skyward sword, and I'd love for that stuff to make a second appearance.

That's just light reflection from the blade, you can still clearly see that it's purple in the shadows where the glow isn't hitting.

The detail everybody seems to overlook is that Link's arm and the Master Sword are corrupted, seem to change their state of corruption over the course of the game, and funnily enough: Mirror the corruption experienced by the guy in Princess Mononoke.

The Princess Mononoke reference goes beyond just the corruption in the arm. The form and movement of the Malice also looks and moves similarly to the corruption in the movie, especially on the first boar that the hero meets.

The master sword, seems a bit different, no not the fact it's melted into half, it seems to have reverted back to the goddess sword, which means the blessings are gone, and it can't defeat Ganon or Ganondorf, and with zelda so far being trapped underground, or even dead for all we saw so far, which mean she can't make another bow of light to use to defeat Ganon/dorf which means we won't have a weapon that will be able to defeat the big bad, and with it being back to the goddess sword it's likely Fi could be free or maybe hurt and we will need to help her to restore the sword to not being melted maybe it be stuck as the goddess sword till the hero of sky makes it the master sword, since it does seem botw could be the end and start of a timeline loop, where everything is in place to stop demise, yet we need to have been sent back in time to actually get the items needed, so zelda could be in a timeloop with no beginning or end, or maybe it will be only from 10,000 years ago, instead of before even the hero of sky. We see, but I am excited for sure.

It really doesn't seem to have reverted back to the goddess sword, as cool as that would be, the hilt is still very clearly the master sword's and the gem is still wholly yellow instead of the yellow-blue of the goddess sword.

I noticed that Link's earrings are the "Champion earrings" as I like to call them (because they match with his Champion's Tunic). I doubt a hero from 10,000 years ago would have the same earrings, meaning he most definitely is the Hero of the Wild. He *could* still go in the past (like the tapestry and stuff), which I wouldn't personally like, but still, I can practically confirm it's the BoTW Link (unless the earrings are an heirloom which would be a little weird but okay).

I believe that when he said “beyond that” he meant that the adventure will be set on the ground, in the sky and through time. I am almost certain that we will have dungeons back (new enemies and mechanics) where Link will have to go and earn the power to restore the Master Sword, and that the “new encounters” will be Sages of some sort. I think I have a pretty good idea of what will the story be about just by watching the trailers and the new scene from today, I might be wrong, but I’m almost 90% certain

Another time travel truther I see 👀 I also feel there's a pretty good chance there will be some sort of time related mechanic that can change up the whole world, or parts of it (like Lanayru desert in Skyward Sword). There are many parallels and the series is no stranger to it, so who knows. I've thought since the beginning that it would be the best excuse to reuse the 'same world', but alter it and make it entirely new to explore in a surprising way!

@@pastelbird indeed! I think that the “drop” seen in the trailer is in some way similar to the time-shift stones in Lanayru Desert. If you think about it, when activating the Sheikah Towers, a “wisdom-blue” drop would fall on the Sheikah Slate with all the area information, so maybe the “courage-green” drop could be related to the time travelling ability? I also have a feeling that’ll be another bootstrap paradox: the Hand that holds Ganondorf’s corpse down gets “fused” with Link, who goes back to the time of the original Calamity, becomes the very same Hero of the Legend and leaves the Hand to hold down Ganondorf’s corpse, waiting for Link in the future to discover the corpse and the Hand which holds down Ganondorf’s corpse, which will fuse with Link and so on and so forth. I have already a headache just thinking about it 😅

Some of the ground seems to have been lifted up alongside Hyrule Castle, so the ripped apart chunks of land would likely be the entrance to any new underground parts that wouldn't make sense to be attached to any of the few cave like places we are able to see or enter in botw 1

I've mentioned this before, but I would LOVE to see Zelda be the controllable character in the underground, and have her exploring a gigantic traditional dungeon with puzzles and challenges, and progression walls that require Link in the Sky to do things and vice versa to help the other. Maybe Link is on a quest to reforge the Master Sword while Zelda is on her own quest to find the Triforce pieces!

So glad they chose to spend more time on the development instead of rushing to finish things up before the holidays (I imagine they would have chosen christmas time for marketing reasons if they had decided to put it out in 2022). I’m fine with the delay, but I am wondering what the broken master swords means. 1. Does this mean that demise consciousness is released? If so will it manifest as demise again or take control of ganon. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was like you get to Ganons boss fight and half way through he gets possessed by demise. 2. Will we be reforging the master sword back to its og state or make a whole new sword. Like how in minish cap the sword got remade into the four sword. I hope it stays as the master sword, because it’s iconic but I wouldn’t mind it if it got new powers we haven’t seen before. 3. What about fi. Is she died, released? So many questions.

The only thing I was kind of disappointed about (like, way back) was the probability of the game being set immediately after the first. What I would personally LOVE to see is Hyrule partially recovered. I want to walk around castle town. I want to see memorials for the victims of the calamity. I want to see settlements popped up around the whole kingdom like Tarrytown. Based on the clips so far at least, my hopes are pretty dashed, but it would have been so cool as an expansion piece - a relatively easy change to impact the original play areas

I just got this thought in my head of Link falling a really long distance while enemies fall or fly along with him. Using the bow, sword and para glider in a mid air battle. Then you just had to mention those Airfos things from Twilight Princess and now I am wanting the hookshot in the game so I can have what I am talking about but with that involved too. My theory for the story: The golden sphere is from Zelda herself to help Link restore the Master Sword. Either she went on a research journey while Link was recovering, and left the spheres for him (meaning no playable Zelda), or she ended up in the underground/past and researches there parallel to Link's adventure (meaning playable Zelda) In both cases, Fi might work as navigation system to guide Link along the traces Zelda left (meaning Skyward Sword's premise all over again)

The biggest move a game or series of any sort is to show stuff that doesn't really make sense. For example time travel on red dead redemption, traveling to space on the Witcher, and having titans and dragons on GTA. These and other thing can make a game great so if they introduce space travel to a game like Zelda the possibilities can be endless.

The way my mind went... “wild” when hearing about the expanded areas, is that we will go underground (like we saw in the first trailer), the sky islands will rise while we’re down there, we will emerge in a new, undiscovered area outside our reaches from the 1st game, ascend to the sky islands, and spend the game traversing Hyrule’s higher ground.

With the time mechanic we could traverse through specific times in which Hyrule changes drastically. There are a lot of Heroes in the introduction legends in previous games we never got to play as and maybe we will play as them through the time mechanic spanning the whole series... would be a neat idea but not likely

I think Link's adventure in BotW 2 will echo that of "The Hero of Men" that was referenced in The Minish Cap. That being the Picori originally lived in the sky and helped The Hero of Men to wield the Picori Blade and the Light Force, and use both in order to save Hyrule. Plus, both Links seem to not wear the traditional green hat and have more grown out hair than other Links. Also, I think the reason why the BotW 2 Link looks different when he's on the floating islands is that he goes through a transformation when he enters that realm. Just like how in the Link to the Past, Hylians transformed into other characters when they entered the "Golden Land" / Sacred Realm. However, the Golden Land in ALttP was corrupted by Ganon and Hylians were turned into monsters (or a pink bunny) when they traveled into it. The Golden Land in BotW isn't corrupted (yet) so Link's transformation is different when he enters that realm.

The picori was to be a 5th race you save in botw 1, I think they even have the divine beast they made for it in the game Still, it is in Prua lab on the ceiling I think, so yeah they could have put them out the game, to make them help the hero in botw 2 or whatever the name is, since it would reference minish cap a lot and they do enjoy the call backs.

@@astolfofansunny4047 I'm thinking it might not be the Picori specifically that helps the BotW 2 Link, but it's the lands the Picori originally inhabited when they lived up in the sky, and it explains why BotW 2 Link has the resources up there to rebuild the Master Sword and harness more of the Light Force. That's my current theory anyways.

@@mrv1713 maybe the Picori are really all ded or gone from Hyrule, since weren't they the race that was the reason the grass had items like a bomb or even just a few rupees, and in botw 1 they planned to have the Picori, they decided not to, but the only thing in the grass that is odd are fairy, but they could just he hiding and then link exposes them so they fly away, since all the other items the Picori would have put to help the heros throughout the entire timeline aren't there.

It's probably underground... but being outside of hyrule could be a possibility although I see that as being pretty unlikely as we've never been outside hyrule with the exception of termina, but maybe it's like Lorule where it's just an alternate version of hyrule but much different land wise.

Sky hero isn't Link. It's his ancestor, the hero from the mural that defeated Ganon. It's his hand on Ganons chest. You play as both characters, swapping by "time drip". Sky islands replace Shrines. As for expanded areas, underground wouldn't be as cool as people think. BotW has tons of underground areas people forget about. I hope for open oceans and new continents. That would explain the delays. Frankly i hope so because what they have shown doesn't justify this crazy dev time at all IMO. The other option could be a 3rd version of hyrule, and a 3rd Link who we haven't seen, and Nintendo is doing a timeline convergence story.

One of the things I was so bummed about not being in BotW, was the lack of swimming underwater. I usually don't like underwater levels in games, but I rather enjoy them in Zelda. (save for the part where I got stuck in a whirlpool for like 30 in Twilight Princess lol) But an underwater adventure in BotW would've been absolutely WONDERFUL!

It's because Nintendo knows that potable water will be the new commodity in the near future (if not already in some areas) either with or without engineered disaster to push mankind that way. They want us to get used to a lack of water so why spray it all over the game? Maybe the next Zelda will have a major 500 year drought.

Hmm, there with you on diving and swimming with the aerial combat added would expand the gameplay, but maybe more mini games and items such as the fishing rod, hook-shot, and animal petting. Adding more variety than gliding and shield surfing. Who knows we could get access to the spirit realm and/or time manipulation in some areas. Giving more clues about the history in the land of Hyrule.

Personally I'm wondering if there will be a element of going into the master sword. It was damaged by malic and seems more corrupted in this trailer. With hints in BofTW about FI being in the sword, maybe we have to go into the sword and cleanse it to restore it.

I am hoping for an outer space area just because it is an unusual ideal that won't happen in a Zelda game. Although all the hints of aliens like the Romani Ranch invasion and all the high tech that we seen in Zelda that is uncommon for a low technology society even if the Shieka was responsible for some it. We get weird races like the Occa who have technology despite being Dodos with no hands to craft things with. Also Link using a hook shot in outer space is something that I want to see!

Speculations that Demise escaped (probably with Ghirahim) the seal, while it feels like Fi is attempting to communicate with Link. What's your take on this? Everybody that I saw was going around saying that that flamethrower thing that you see in there might have been some new mechanic that comes out of his arm but if you slow down the footage and you watch it really closely it looks like it's attached to the face of a shield and he is definitely holding that in his shield arm his right arm is the one that gets messed up and is the reason why he wears that glove over it his left arm was not injured in any way which is why it stays bare and visible that is a new type of an item that is not a gameplay mechanic. If you slow it down and go frame by frame by frame you will see that that dragon's head is attached to a shield you can blatantly see it and even see how he's holding on to it. Any new mechanics that are going to be used with that arm will have to be done while he's not holding a weapon Pause at exactly 4:33 take a stillshot, and zoom in. That is clearly a shield he is holding how do people who analyze these videos to do reviews or theories not take notice to the smallest details like this I noticed it right off the bat the first thing I noticed was that he was holding a shield that was shooting fire how did anyone else not notice

The Master Sword could be linked to Link and it could reflect the damage link has on his arm and it could represent the fight of trying to keep the malice contained (kind of like the curse on Dumbledore hand in half blood prince) also Zelda said " our hope rests in you, to be forever by the Hero's side. Maybe they will do some sort of time travel or dream aspect. Maybe new flash backs to the hero from 10k years ago where you as the player can actually control them and reenact what happened long ago in order to uncover some ability or secret needed for today's link.

I think “underground” could possibly just be a variety of underground caves here and there….not necessarily a huge interconnected system across all of Hyrule, but rather just mini dungeons here and there. The other thing I’d REALLY like to see that I was disappointed to find was missing from BotW would be swimming underwater, like we had in Twilight Princess.

Ok that is maybe a little bit stretched but what if they decided to report the game because of the impact of Elden Ring. I mean it is the evolution that the open world needed and with From Software taking direct inspiration from BOTW, I don't think Nintendo would deny using Elden Ring for some inspiration.

It’s not a delay. It’s been a pattern for decades. BOTW is still called ZeldaWiiU. This game will be released simultaneously with the next-gen console as the Switch is being administered last rites.

Something that I think would be interesting is bringing back the Four Sword as a means of fixing the Master Sword. As such, that segues nicely into making an excellent boss fight where the moment Link pulls the Four Sword from it’s resting place, it splits Link from his corruption. Thus creating a great way to fight Shadow Link as a dungeon boss.

As a side note, it would be interesting if the green hand is a spirit that helps guide Link on his journey (aka companion style that has dialogue). It would also be very interesting if said companion is male, given all of Link’s other companions were female. (Except for Linebeck. He’s the only exception that I know of.)

Everybody’s thinking they’re gonna add underground labyrinths and, while that’s definitely a possibility, I really hope they add underwater exploration with an eventual upgrade that lets link breath underwater indefinitely. Imagine how cool a modern water temple could be? Or even the cut manta ray divine beast? They could seriously expand Hyrule by adding an underwater element!

Immediate ideas that come to mind after watching, these ideas probably won't happen I don't think you can go strait to Gannon after tutorial like in note. I do think classic dungeons are returning. Items like the dragon arm (thing that was spitting out fire) will work like the master sword as it charges up and has a limited use . There will be 4-6 main dungeons and these will reward you with an arm ability once beaten ,the dragon arm is one of them this will be like the champions abilitys. Champion abilitys won't come back. We will have spins on the original sheika ability, e.g. the original was freezing time and the new one is rewinding time. I may have more ideas, if I do I will mark them with (X) on it

I think extended world means extended senses that relates to the hand which is shown on the video. Where after and during full moon the Link turns in werewolf. plus the title will reflect this and kept secret because of that. The Legend of Zelda: Blood moon rising.

I have seen a number of people comment that it looks like Link has Ganondorf's hand, but seeing Link's face in the new trailer, it appears his look is of the hero of 10,000 years ago. Perhaps the story of the game is Link travels in time back to that era, needs to restore the power to the master sword (Skyward Sword style), and defeat the Calamity before it ever becomes a problem. Perhaps travelling back that far has withered and depleted the sword of it's power and it needs to be restored/repaired.

Think about it, they are using the same engine and base game, most of the same map and mechanics already developed for the botw. If they are taking all this time, we can assume that the amount of content of this game it's gonna be huge!

I am really hoping for an underground, even if it's limited in scope and nowhere near as complex or expansive as the sky and surface. One thing that I felt Breath of the Wild very much lacked was caves and caverns to explore. sure there are a few tiny little nooks here and there but there is very little in the way of underground exploration. I do hope the sequel adds that element in. Also I'm praying that my theory holds true and that these "new encounters" will turn out to be the three golden goddesses themselves, after all, at this point those are the only major figures in the lore of Hyrule that no Link has ever directly encountered and I could see needing their power to repair the Master Sword because it be lookin a little(...a lot) rougher than ever before. There is some evidence to back up this claim, although like most evidence about speculated ideas, they have to be taken with a grain of salt as it could all fall apart with the next reveals. Here we go though for some of my evidence! First is the green golden hand that seems to be sealing Ganondorf, I have held some suspicion that hand belongs to Farore the Goddess of Courage as "green" coloured magic is most often associated with her. It's clear that the arm holds some sacred power able to counteract the force of Malice leading further credence to it being the arm of Farore as only the power of the three golden goddesses has been proven to be effective in fighting against it. a final bit of evidence I will share is that the arm, after it has been transposed onto Link, seems to have the ability to manipulate time, and Im not seeing anything that looks like timeshift stone. Of the three golden goddesses, Farore's magic, has been shown to be able to manipulate space-time to teleport the user instantly. Then there is the golden bracer around that arm, It looks to me as though it were made of the same physical substance as the Triforce although that, like everything else I've written, is a bit of a stretch and should be taken with skepticism. This theory has been fun to imagine and work on and as crazy as this series has been, I don't think it's the most outlandish idea out there. There is more evidence to back up this speculation although am not going to make anyone read any more of this text blob! If anyone would like to discuss this idea further though I am open to talking about it, fleshing out the theory or debunking it properly either is okay in my mind!

The most cave like place was the shire link woke up in, and maybe parts of the cave system in and around Hyrule castle, the only other one I can think of would be the death mountain one where we need to grab a rock roast to the older bro to let the younger bro open the shrine path, so unless they have something for those 3 areas, any cave systems would probably appear after the ground is lifted into the sky alongside Hyrule castle, so it could be in a lot of places for a cave entrance to appear. But yeah I hope some caves would be explored in the sequel.

Three things I wish they'd added to BoW and feels like either an oversight or they just didn't have the time, were swimming and exploring underwater, actual fishing, and a beautiful starry sky. I mean, they managed to make beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and a friggin Aurora Borealis, but they failed to make an appealing night sky. Maybe it was on purpose, maybe it was an oversight, maybe they just couldn't do it, who knows, but I do hope they improve that in BoTW 2!

One thing I always found kinda odd was the fact BotW 1 had these 3D maps, but only in certain areas. This kinda did not make sense as why not make the whole map 3D and consistent across the board. My guess is that they developed it only when they were making divine beasts and hyrule castle, but will now be using it across the board in part 2. So, the floating rocks, the underground section and the possibly underwater section (who are we kidding, 100% there's water section, one of his abilities is that he can swim THROUGH rock upwards like its water) would be navigated using the 3D map.

Personally, I think this game is going to be awesome and Nintendo knows it, so they want to avoid competing with Elden Ring for Game of the Year. And you've said it before, HG, it's better for them to take their time than rush it and release a game that's simply not ready. And Spring 2023 isn't that much longer a wait, about three or four months, I think. It is definitely exciting though. Zeltik reckons Fi might return, which would be cool, but the new companion character would be great, too. Personally, I think it would be fun if Fi returned AND we have a new companion. Maybe that's a bit too much, but it certainly would be different
