Dan, no video can substitute for your great lesson. But, your talent in explaining the swing, the position of the feet, arms, shoulder, and the initial position and release of the club are extraordinary. I am grateful as a non-UK resident for your video and glad to say that it works even from 1000 miles away!! Thank you and all the best!

Very well done. As a veteran swing coach for the 'athletically infirm,' ( myself included ) I'd like to add that experimenting with dif lofts & ball positions ( not to mention hours on end of practice ) will boost confidence & aid in the diverse decisions one must make when its 'Showtime.' Cheers.

There is also a downside to this... You realize there are so many choices, so many combinations of clubs, ball positions, feet positions, swings, releases that it messes up your game. I, as weekend golfer, stick to one wedge club and 3 types of shots because I need to be able to execute them consistently and they cover most situations decently.

Take your Release 1 Stance and Ball Position, then move the Trail Foot only to widen the Stance. Relatively, this "moves the Ball Forward" while also diminishing the Forward Shaft Lean

Dan, I tend to chunk a lot around the greens especially in winter time when the ground is very soggy. Any thoughts? Maybe just simply keep all of my weight on my left side? It seems to be my nemesis. I got down to an eight handicap but I seem to be losing strokes now around the green because of this

is Release 2 considered flipping your wrist? This is the first year of my golf experience were I'm trying to improve, and I'm uncertain what flipping the wrist mean? Full iron shots, you lead with the hands correct? and they say don't flip wrists? For the Release two are you flipping the wrists at impact?

Dunno who you're asking my unknown fellow golfer but I couldn't help notice the lack of a reply. I've yet to watch this vid, but as a veteran swing coach for the athletically challenged ( such as myself ), I'd like to offer you some helpful suggestions. First off, anyone who literally swings the club with their arms can only be pitied by those in their group. Those who disconnect from their core through impact have no hope. Golf is 90-some % a BODY ROTATION, & has very little to do with any arm swinging prior to impact. Flat out. Secondly, flipping the club has had a bad rap for as long as I can remember, ( which is many, MANY moons ago ). More on that in a bit. 'Pressing' the club handle approx. 1 lateral fist ahead of the face of any iron promotes a much desired, controlled spin of any iron shot provided the bottom of your 'body / swing arc is one ball length ahead of your actual golf ball. IMMEDIATELY at impact one must extend the bent trail arm towards your target at impact. These 2 are done simultaneously. If executed correctly, you should see a divot about a ball's length in front of where your golf ball previously was, & if you see a football shaped divot then you need to get the lie of your irons checked & modified by a professional. That's easily done & inexpensive. The grooves of your wedges should be refreshed by its corresponding tool ( also inexpensive ) or replaced, depending on your motivation after 30 rounds or so. No grooves? No bite. Controlled spin is widely used by avid golf amateurs & pros alike from the apron, fairways & 1st cut of rough within near proximity to the green provided there are no obstructions enroute to the green such as water, heavier rough, bunkers, etc. This type of shot ( again ... when executed correctly ) usually promotes 2 bounces on the green; the latter bounce being the one that, 'checks up,' slowing the ball to a short roll that will stop ( hopefully ) near the flagstick. If the ball is positioned toward the TRAIL foot, the ball will roll further after checking up. If played in the MIDDLE of the stance, the ball will have more spin than the former & should roll less after checking up. If played FORWARD in the stance, the ball will take a hop & then stop; again, if executed correctly. Allow yourself to practice different ball positions with a shag bag full of premium 3 or 4 piece urethane covered golf balls such as Pro V1, Chrome Soft, TP5, etc. Hard golf balls or 'rocks' will not respond nearly as well ( or at all ) as per spin capability. Incidentally, black numbered balls ( all brands ) have more spin than red numbered balls of the same name which typically have an 'X' after their name. In other words, a Callaway Chrome Soft with a black number ( 1, 2, 3, etc.) will have more spin than a Callaway Chrome Soft x and its corresponding red numbers. I mention this because most of my students have no clue. Its always a trade-off when using one golf ball for the entire round because your 'x' ball will go further off the tee because of less spin, but the trade-off is .. less spin around the greens & visa-vera. Me? I HATE losing $5 balls off the tee, so if I'm not playing in a tournament, I use a 'rock' off the tee ( Pinnacle, Top Flite, Wilson Ultra, & btw ... Callaway, Titleist & Taylormade make rocks too ), and then when I'm within 'approach-shot range,' I replace my 'rock' with a 3 or 4 piece urethane ball. I don't play for money, so who cares. Is anyone in my group going to replace my 4or $5 tee ball? I don't think so, so forget it & to hell with the industry ... they LOVE when we lose their expensive balls! I'm not only athletically challenged, I'm financially challenged as well. Now ... about getting 'flip...' I liken the notorious flip of the wrists to that of nunchuck practice. It can be used at the right time in regards to self defense or it can be used to beat YOURSELF up if your timing is off, right? While its true a successful 'flop' shot is created by a well timed flip of the wrists, & the same can be said for a goodly amount of bunker shots, most ... MOST golfers flip their wrists prematurely which invariably produces a less than desirable outcome. That said, the players who know WHEN to flip their wrists ( precisely at the time of impact, along with extending their trail arm at impact ), create the desired penetrating flight & height of their iron shots. When it comes to pitching, a healthy 'windshield wiper' flip at the bottom of the swing arc promotes a generous amount of spin for when the need arises, however I teach my students to change ball position more towards their LEAD foot for that 'flip' at the bottom of the arc in order they create greater spin. YOU MUST PRACTICE RELIGIOUSLY UNTIL YOU ARE ADEPT with ALL ball positions, and for the love of all that's holy ... make SURE you AVOID turning the club head over through impact, as you do NOT want your ball to hang a rolling left or a right turn post-spin upon landing on a green. Another helpful hint for a normal chip or close proximity pitch shot is to slightly lift the heal of the iron a smidge off the turf, & to do this one needs to choke up a trife on the grip & move closer to the golf ball. This action greatly reduces the chance of 'chunking' your short pitch or any chip shot provided you have approx. 60% of your body weight on your lead side, & ALWAYS ... ALWAYS look where your golf ball once was before looking up as you strike & watch your ball go into the left field bleachers where there are no baseball fans OR bleachers ... but beckoning rough, awaiting trees or babbling brooks trading barbs about your errant golf shot. Hope this helps everyone who spent their day reading this. Holy crap, its no small wonder I charge for lessons.

Good questions. It will look 'flipped' if you don't rotate your body with the shot, but everything should look very well connected with the right amount of rotation. Try and keep the short game and long game as two separate games in your mind. Usually, what works well for one will harm the other!

Most likely you aren't Rotating enough. The Front Shoulder should move out towards the Ball instead of tilting Down in the backswing. Coming through you should feel the Shoulder pulling back behind you. It's a much "Flatter" rotation than for a Full Swing. Watch Dan's Shoulders in these videos more so than his Hands or the Shaft.

@@Micker375 tried that, it’s the 6 inches between the ears that’s the problem. Backswing is ok (I think), after that it’s just an involuntary twitch that happens in a nanosecond. I have the full repertoire- thin, fat, double hit and even the occasional fan of the ball. Desperate!
