It only took 50 years to find an instructor to explain the importance of proper ball position in simplest of terms. Played 18 holes the morning after viewing this video the night before. Finding the low point of my swing was spot on all day and I’m confident it will in the weeks to come. Chris C

Great simplified explanation of ball position throughout the bag. One point you hit on that was equally important/helpful for me was the positioning of the hands in relation to the body when you talked about the wedges and irons with “presetting the impact”. Without that emphasis on “presetting the impact” with the irons I probably would have missed that key element. Thanks again.

Thanks Trottie. I have been working on this a lot lately and what you have demonstrated in this video makes so much more sense now. I have been wanting work on shaping but end up super frustrated. You made the process simpler. Now I am off to the backyard where I can start practicing. Thanks!!!

Dude, I can hit 300+ yard drives, I can hit wedges really well, I can chip all around the green, I can naturally read a green and putt well, but I have the worst iron game in the world! 7 iron through 4 iron and 3 wood, who knows where the ball is going? The 7 iron could go 200 yards and the 3 wood could go 20! You have no idea how this has helped me. I mean I know about ball placement and all, hell I can hit stingers if I put the ball on the back foot even! But my iron game has kept me in the 90s. Today I saw your YT short and it changed my life. I couldn't wait to get to the course today and I shot a 42 in 9 from the tips, saw 4 iron fly, saw 3 wood fly, all my iron shots, GiR in 3 with a 9 iron 150 from green, all because I preset my shafts like you said. This is one of the most important golf videos I've ever seen. Thank you.

Excellent video Trottie, one of the best watches in the inter webs! The physics of the golf swing and the club to ball interactions simplified. Bravo and thank you!

Best ball position video I've seen. Made me realize I'm playing the ball too far back with my irons and not presetting my hands for impact. Loved the tips for shaping the ball too! Keep up the great work!

Many thanks for the reminder Trottie, I have a constant battle with my ball position and ALWAYS have a tendency to have the ball too far forward in my stance. The visual of the Clubs laid down will give me a great reminder to keep the ball further back👍👍

Great video Trottie! I think most golfers should understand that consistent ball position leads to more consistent ball striking and ball flight!

Trottie!! Ball position has always been an issue for me. Many of your vids touching on it have helped. But this one, damn man! Game changer!! Watched this video a few times prior to playing Sunday, best round I’ve shot in years!!!

Hey Trottie loving your videos. How about a video on clubs for average mid handicap golfers. What would give us a performance advantage. What should we have in the bag and what shouldn’t we have in our bags. We all wanna play blades but most of us probably shouldn’t.

Ive grown up playing addicted to the trap draw get a lil steep on it and step on it. Makes me a terrible driver of the ball, cant get the ball forward and can't stop a two way miss. Even considered one of the mini drivers.

Great tips Trottie, any advice how to avoid doing it wrong on the course? I work on it a lot in a practise net & feels great but in the course I especially find my ball position with driver creeping far too far left & on or even outside my left toe
@trottiegolf2 жыл бұрын
You just have to monitor it. Use the mower lines or any old divots on the box to help you out

Am I seeing something weird coz of camera angle or on his stock shots other than driver he literally had the ball in the same position for every other club according to that alignment stick (a little inside left heal)

Jesus I been playing 7 iron in the middle of my stance maybe a ball forward... not a inch or 2 off my front foot... makes no sense to me I'll give it a try though

Hey Trottie big fan from Canada, love your videos they've helped my game tremendously! Is combo-ing 4-6 p770 7-PW P7MC common? I've found the p770s juiced and I'm looking to hit specific yardages with my all my irons specifically the lower ones. But I want some help with longer irons as I think I'd struggle hitting P7MC 4-6. I know lofts for p770 5-6 would need adjusting to gap the set correctly but any tips for this type of combo set would be appreciated! Thanks!
@trottiegolf2 жыл бұрын
Adjust the lofts to the yardages you need opposed to what they need to be on paper.

Chris… you nailed it when you said at the start that this is one of the most misunderstood elements of the golf swing … especially for most amateurs. This is gold standard teaching and done through one of the simplest but best examples I’ve seen anywhere. Thanks for looking out for us mere golfing mortals 🐐🧅👏🤩 H
