He's not mine. If the role of God is not filled in your life you will fall for anything that sounds rational. Peterson is just parroting recovery talk you can hear in any AA meeting. The parrot has no song of its own. He has no recovery message because he is not recovered. Just as a stream cannot flow higher than its headwaters so a man cannot lead beyond where he has gone. I'm a recovered alcoholic.

@@gerardjones7881 honestly I am happy for you and dr. Peterson. For you you found you way out. You won your fight...extremely good result. For dr. Peterson...never the less has given to many young men a reason to better themself and find a centre in their life. Nobody else has done it so prominently. Dr. Peterson is also a human being, therefore fallible because human, but never the less he is fighting his own demons. As I am fighting mine. My goal has gradually become more and more immediate. There is a long term, high goal, but on the way I try as an exercise, when I can remember, to look at how I have reacted in the previous hour. Sometimes it gives me the shivers to acknowledge the truth of my life. (A short while ago I wrote this, then after reflecting I realized it is misleading. Implied in my statement is that I am doing this exercise on and on, totally not the case. An exercise is only good for a few days, then it is time to look for something else. I look for something that will help me see how I mechanically react - like how do I open a door, or what leg goes into my pants first, etc. Not to change these things or make them better, but to bring to light that they are happening without any conscious attention.)

I would go 150% at trying to be like those people, but would ultimately fail and the give up. Comparing yourself to your past self and only your past self is truly one of the most helpful mindsets to adopt.

The thing is if you were at your best when something awful happened to you it does not motivate you to be at your best because there was a negative emotional association with that. If bad things happen when you are underperforming you expect that but if you consistently got good results from doing good and suddenly you are attacked or punished for being at your best it is debilitating you feel like you can do nothing right so why try to improve if your best isn't good enough?

At first, sorting yourself out is extremely difficult to the point where people just accept they can’t ‘do it’, but if you persist, the next step becomes slightly less difficult, then a bit easier some more until the norm flips and you have more than you can handle. I think the point is continual growth is your best bet; have problems to solve, and notice that happiness is a by-product or side-effect of being in the moment rather than things to pursue.

@johnholland28255 жыл бұрын
I've been 'weed free' for a year, nothing got better, worse if anything, don't blame the drug. Jordan said to get rid of the things that you know are bad for you, so I got rid of the girlfriend and stopped smoking, now I'm lonely and I got nothing to smoke, no friends, crashed my car whilst trying to self-improve, got banned from all the gym's for standing up for myself and now have no job and no money. Good luck.
@joanneg76465 жыл бұрын
John Holland im not blaming the drug i still think its good in the right dose and for certsin situations..But i was smoking an ounce a week of high test thc..I think that’s a little excessive.i also spend lots of time alone mostly because i have social anxiety but i use that time to study all the things that im passionste about. Sometimes we have to clean our plate right off and yes it will look very empty before we put the right things back on it. so if your girlfriend was not good for you or your friends then I say better to be alone in the corner of a house top then with confusion and strife that’s paraphrased out of the old testament. Suggestion take your time if you feel like smoking weed smoke it if you feel like getting a girlfriend get one but I would say take this time now that you’ve cleared your plate off and think long and hard how you want to put stuff back on there I don’t know how old you are but I’m pushing 60 it took me a long time to figure out some people are not worth the effort and a lot of stuff i allowed to happen had i learned to remove those ppl and restructure my situations sooner i would probably have been a scientist or doctor or into research..Don’t waste your time feeling sorry for yourself longer than you need to or kicking yourself it won’t get you anywhere look at your mistakes own your responsibilities and move along young man. Theres potential you have it. God allows us to go into deep valleys it’s a learning experience you’ll come up on the top of that hill and you’ll be a lot stronger than you are today!
