Thank you ,Si-Gung for posting this interview with Lo Sifu- His Toad character was my second favorite (Love Spiderman, so, the Lizard's my favorite). That "Kid With The Golden Arms" is the truth, too. This must have been a really cool interview because he seems so laid back and has a great sense of humor.

Awesome interview. Being a Cantonese speaker myself, I definitely got the joke. The Cantonese, especially Hong Kong Cantonese, we always hold poetry in high regard. The Triads use it when they confront one another, it is to show your Academic side because it is held in high regard to know both Academic (Mun) and Martial (Mo). Now for that Stunt guy to crack that joke when a famous Director farts, it is both hilarious and poetic and of course, right in line with Hong Kong culture.

That was Shaolin Temple ( Shaw bros version 1976) with small roles of the venoms mob. Kuo Chui played the character with the ankle weights.

The Ip Man movies did Lo Mang dirty IMO. Love the guy in the Venoms flicks and Lion Vs Lion. His Mantis is top drawer. What a legend.

I can see a sequel of 5 Deadly Venoms, but, only in it's origin . Although, they are fictional techniques, at least 2 are actual martial arts styles. Snake 🐍 & Leopard 🐆 of Southern 5 Patterns. 5 venom snake 🐍 is REALLY the Snake form & Leopard 🐆 form in disguise of 5 venom lizard 🦎. Take away the acrobats , lizard is a crouching form , attracting the lower anatomy of the opponent, just as The Leopard of 5 Patterns forms. I practiced the Snake & Leopard forms in my younger days studying from the 📕 5 Patterns of Southern Kung-fu...I forget the author. As 4 the other 3 real" Venom "techniques! As U already know Toad 🐸 is Southern Mantis, Centipede 🦠 is Iron palm mixed with northern arts & Scorpion 🦂 is Taekwondo a mandatory martial art 🥋 Sun Chien learned while in The Chinese Army

Yes but the snake of Venoms is not the real snake style. They made it intentionally different from Jackie Chan's snake.

That's awesome news about the toad a.k.a. kid with the golden arm doing a film in which his style will be heavily featured. I'm so sick and tired of the IP Man films oversaturating the kung fu movie industry. There are thousands of unique kung fu styles that haven't been properly showcased in films that are long overdue on the big screen. People seem to be hung up on Wing Chun which quite frankly is solely due to the Bruce Lee cult that insists he was the best and therefore Wing Chun must be the best. Seeing Donnie Yen using a weaker style such as Wing Chun compared to his usual Hung Gar was and is a step down in my opinion. I consider all branches of southern praying mantis to be far more powerful than Wing Chun. I always wondered why they didn't let Lo Meng use Chu Gar against Donnie Yen in the films. Probably not to upset the Southern Mantis fans is my only guess because the script had to have him lose the fight. When he mentioned The Grandmaster I immediately thought of how great the Xingyiquan and Bajiquan styles were shown and I wished they had those guys fight IP Man in the movie. What a missed opportunity! Lo Meng is my favorite venom and it always made me mad whenever he died in the Shaw Brothers films. Hong Kong needs to move on from Wing Chun and Bruce Lee. They have an enormously rich history of sources to draw from for a variety of different styles that should receive attention. A film based on the life of Guo Yunshen or Li Shuwen would make for far more exciting fight scenes as well as a better story. Wing Chun has been done to death and is boring to watch with it's narrow display of techniques compared to other styles.

@@TheKungFuGenius I took a quick glance at them just to humor you and I'm not upset in the slightest. I just needed to vent my frustration at the apparent lack of diversity in the styles displayed in the current Hong Kong film industry. That's great that you love Wing Chun. Do you have any thoughts about what I said regarding Lo Meng not using Chu Gar in the films with Donnie Yen? Would've been great if they had him use SPM against IP Man. Also, what do you think of my suggestions regarding Guo Yunshen and Li Shuwen in their respective styles? If you haven't already done so I highly recommend you check out the Taiping Institute website and read their detailed history on Xingyiquan & Bajiquan. Those are just two arts with a fascinating background and the website has plenty more for you to check out.
