Yea, this is why we needed a second option ending like in MK 11 story expansion or in the story in general, where you can choose which fighter you want to play and end it with, in MK11 we had the Liu Kang ending but we could also get an Shang Tsung ending. We needed that in MK1. We needed a Havik or Khaos ending or we needed the seed drop for the next boss or villain main as in MK 9 ending, which got us the MK X story, it continue with Quan Chi and Shinnok. So yea for next story expansion if we getting another one, which I believe we might get one more Story expansion. The next one I could see General Shao, his way to Outworld rule as Shao Kahn. Since in the story expansion we heard general Shao escaped. It would been good if we got a teaser like MK9 ending

I didn't get terrible from it. Mediocrity? Sure. Unremarkable? Sure. But compared to the stories I've seen and hated (such as tlou2 or rings of power, etc) it wasn't that bad. All the problems it had were also in the main story, which I enjoyed. Not gonna defend it, but I didn't make me angry.

It's more of a callback to the 3D Era which mostly didn't have that. DA has the deadly alliance playable, then there was Onaga, but everyone's playable in Armageddon. Also Towers of Time Klassic Shang Tsung has his Invasions Shang Tsung's ninja morphs if that counts.

At least Shinnoks blast makes sense because anyone who knows Shinnoks lore knows the amulet was created by Shinnok himself and it holds Shinnoks full power within. In that sense,the power of the amulet is Shinnoks separated from himself in the amulet and when returned to him he regains his elder god powers so having him have it embedded in his body almost was symbolic of the fact that the amulets creation and power itself was always Shinnoks own power now restored and part of him again. The amulet blast was just Shinnok weaponoizing his own power as the amulet. Havok does nothing lol

There was some setup with Bi-Han stating how he knows Havik’s weaknesses, which is a callback to MK4 with Kuai Lang knowing Shinnok’s weaknesses through his deceased brother’s Mythologies adventure, which was also referenced heavily in the Sektor/Noob arcade endings. Bi-Han also fought Havik with Liu not solo, so like MK4, you can imagine it was Liu doing most of the heavy lifting with Noob/Sub-Zero merely advising.

This really shows that the whole chapter system they have is really hurtful. They literally injected two base game characters into this story, who have nothing to do with any part of the story we cared about. The only characters that we should really be playing as is Cyrax, Sector, and Noob. But since they only get about 4 fights each, sometimes a little more, all of their stories are rushed, and instead they focus on alt-Tanya talking to a dragon. And Cyrax’s development all happened in the very first chapter. That should have taken the whole expansion, if not more.

The saddest part about this expansion is how dirty they did Havik. Why is he just another realm conquering tyrant just like Shao? Does NRS know what “chaos” actually means? Why does he have all of the magical macguffins from MK Deception? Why does he get jobbed out in one fight to Noob Saibot after establishing he can; not only take on all of the main cast, but Fire God Liu Kang too. Noob randomly knowing everything about Havik just because he was killed and experimented on? I really wanted to be excited for this, but new MK is clearly not for longtime fans anymore. Preferring to opt for the easiest storytelling style they can. Streamlined and easy to digest multiverse story with no real consequences or conflict.

I absolutely hated the story. Girl Boss Reigns was just stupid. One point that really bothered me was how Lui Kang sent Scorpion into the chaos realm with Cyrax and Sektor. They just massacred tons of his Shaolin brothers, but hey, let's send them in to save Geras and stop Havik from destroying their timeline. Bullshit. Why the duck didn't he send his Champions in? Where the hell was Raiden, Kung Lao and Johnny Cage in all this? At the end of the day, it was just bad writing and it sucked. I do however like the cosmetic changes to the game. And with the chaos music added, the game is finally starting to feel like Mortal Kombat.

Well it technically was only a 10 dollar story the rest of the money we payed was for the characters that's how I justified it but at the end of the day this wouldn't of been an issue if WB didn't sabotage NRS by cutting dev time and making them pivot from injustice to mk pretty much all the problems with mk1 stem directly from that, it feels like they had much more planned for the intial story mode and the expansion but couldn't afford it because of time and budget, no idea what WB is thinking screwing over their biggest franchise wouldn't be surprised if they are saving the Onaga storyline for an mk game that has a proper dev cycle

It’s weird they mentioned General Shao during the story but never showed. Usually you don’t present details unless they get used later (think the Jade statue in MK1 story) Havik allying with General Shao would have been much more interesting than a romp through Havik’s timeline.

Liu Kang isn’t a timekeeper anymore. He gave that up to Geras. So he’s basically old timeline Raiden. I agree though, story had no meat.

He regains his timekeeper's power in the first part to use the Hourglass and look for titan allies in other timelines. Geras could not do this because he was only an intendant. Geras makes it clear that the process is irreversible in part one so Liu Kang has his powers at their prime.

How they could've fixed the KP2 Option A) Make it a 25$ (story was trash so it doesn't deserve even a 30$ price let alone 50$) Option B) Adding WWII Johnny Cage Chapter, Adding WWII Sonya to the story as Kameo for Johnny, Killing Base Tanya and Replacing her with Empress Tanya in the main universe it would add a lot of interesting things for future games for Mileena, Rain etc. Adding Final fights as Noob vs Lui Kang and then Lui Kang vs Titan Havik as a epic battle instead of the shitty ass ending we got. Give us atleast 5 Kameo character If they done the Option B it would justify the 50$ imo.

I thought they would save Havik and the Chaosrealm for MK13. Chaos realm has never been the main place for a MK game like Outworld was for MK2. The reason the story ending felt abrupt was because they crammed or cut in half a story that would of been better served in a sequel with much more time to work with. Even with the small runtime issue the story definitely needed more drafts before production.

I really don't like what they've done with MK1. I don't like how they've changed things. Making Kuai Liang Scorpion is mindboggling. Also, basically removing Hanzo. We've seen one tiny glimpse of him in Smoke's ending and he's a boy? How did they expect fans to take this? I don't like that Tarkatans are just diseased humans. It bugs me a lot as a lifelong fan. I really hope this is just a one time thing and they go back to the old universe for the next game. The multiverse affords them a lot of room to fix things. A second story expansion is gonna have to do a lot to straighten things out. How Bi-Han became Noob pales in comparison to his original transformation, and the plot involving Quan Chi and Scorpion. When this is all done Kuai Liang needs to be Sub-Zero again and Hanzo needs to be Scorpion. What they did is like making Bruce Wayne into Superman and expecting the fans to just be okay with it. I don't understand why they did this.
