The Kia Optima. Is it Better than the Camry?

I tested out the 2018 Kia Optima and did some quick comparisons to my experience with the Toyota Camry. Just some of my opinions on these two great options. I really have very little negative to say about this car and I find it to be an overwhelmingly good value for the money. This particular one was purchased from the Avis through their used car sales program.

I got a 2018 Kia Optima FE base trim in July of 2021. I absolutely love it. It has everything I could ever need and none of the super fancy stuff I’ll never use. Love my car

Yep, agree on the tires. I put Michelin crossclimate on my Optima and they made a huge difference.

I owned a 2016 Camry and traded it for a 2018 Optima. I think interior materials of the Camry were very poor. I had black stains on the seats just from water bottles and several videos of the cars plastics rattling. Have had none of that with the Optima.

13:22 BSD is blind spot detection. You said earlier that the guy was driving in sport mode. That could be part of the reason for the lower gas mileage.

In the better trim packages, you can get 17/18’s with 235’s instead of the 205’s which are meant for better gas mileage. And the materials and features go way up. Fully loaded, it’s right on par or better depending on what you’re looking for with a loaded Camry.

I purchased this exact same Kia, color and all. I love my car so much. I’m happy with it. It only has 54k miles on it. 💙💙💙

In 2020 November I purchased a 2018 optima s. Absolutely love. No complaints but I do agree that it is a bit under powered. Thats for sure but then its a 4 cylinder with no turbo. Read about turbos and I decided not to go that way other wise I would have purchased a is200t Lexus. Love the car. The gdi I have alot to learn about it as I read issues with them to. I have two toyotas. A 2002 tundra that has been my best truck ever after owning 4 Chevy trucks. I did well. 19 years later and over 300k miles things aren't so great with it. Minor repairs and she'll be back on the road and running like a cut cat like it has been for 19 years. I love it. I also have a 2012 corolla that has been as well but almost immediately we started having problems with the fuel I pump and ignition system. I truly wanted to get a toyota again but chose differently. Just wanted to try something different. I appreciate your review. Ty!

I got a 2019 Kia Optima bas model but it came with 18 inch rims. It's so quiet. It's black on black. No sunroof but I love the car. It came pre tinted even half way down the front with rain guards. The black color makes the silver on the handles and those side things pop out. It also has leather interior...idk it.must of all been added ons for an Lx. And it had 12k??? Me like

I have owned a white 2017 Optima EX for almost 2 years now. Not one issue I love the car. Looks great the pearl paint is fantastic the styling is excellent it drives really nice and has plenty of pickup. It has 3 power settings Normal and Eco and Sport and its very quick in sport. 185 horse GDI engine. I bought it with the factory oem Kumho tires and they were awful and very loud. I put a set of Cooper Evolution tires on and its night and day super quiet and smooth. Handles great. I shift the 6 speed auto trans manually always and all you need to do to pass a car is down shift and away you go. It has the push start button no key. Stereo sounds excellent but the very best part is the leather seats are so comfortable I mean really comfortable and the drivers seat is electronic 6 position seat that you can save its position (has 2 users) and it automatically retracts when car is turned off and automatically restores your seating position when you push the start button. Its alot of car for the money. I drove the Camry it did not handle great and was alot more money. Camry will have better resale but I don't care because when I get in this car and drive away I am very happy. 2 years later even more happy.

Got a 2020 base Optima FE back in Aug 2020 during Covid right before the chip shortage. The local Kia dealer was trying to get rid of their remaining inventory by giving huge discounts and cheap leases on the Optima before the K5 changeover. These were being sold like hotcakes to people needing a cheap, reliable set of wheels with safety features but didn't want something as small as a Corolla or a Forte. In my case, I just bought a house at the time and needed a cheap set of wheels. No deals like this as much now.

will i used the camry 2016 with 4 cylinder it was shit car then i bought optima 2017 4 cylinder it was much much better it was a soft car and tire noise was better ❤️

Had a 16 optima Ex non turbo bought brand new engine went bad around 75k miles and Kia would not replace the motor and couldn’t give me a reason why just keep giving me the run around. So I traded it in and got a Toyota Avalon 3.5 V6 278 horsepower drives way better than the crappy Kia. Love the build quality Of Toyota the Avalon is pretty much a Lexus with a Toyota badge. Will never buy a Kia again due to the service
