As much as I live the idea, I believe Hyundai/Kia missed an opportunity for the US market to really make an impact by not starting with a compact truck. Which is completely open market with huge demand.
@fattygamer94Ай бұрын
This truck is competing with the likes of the Hilux and the ranger. So It's already in the compact truck category. And as of right now they can't bring it to the US because of the chicken tax. If they try to import it, they're going to get hit with a 25% tariff. Meaning the price of the car is going to be at least 25% more than in Europe and at that point it's not competing price wise with the ranger or hylix
@palebeachbumАй бұрын
@@fattygamer94 In the U.S. the Ranger and Tacoma are considered midsize trucks. There are newer smaller trucks like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruze and they are currently the only two smaller truck offerings here. This is what torokun is referring to. The midsize market here is already saturated with offerings from various brands. Kia should introduce their own compact truck to compete with Maverick and Santa Cruze.
@TheLancebringerАй бұрын
It's the epa regulations that push trucks so large. Trucks the size of like a 99 ranger made today would have to get over 80mpg

Nissan Frontier base king cab 4x4 with naturally aspirated 3.8 V6 in the US around US $32k now, reasonable price. Bring base model Tasman 4x4 with naturally aspirated engine, no turbo, in the US for $30k. I will be interested. Otherwise Frontier is a very good option.

Unfortunately, the Kia Tasman will not be released in the North American market due to tariffs. The US imposes a 25% tariff on imported trucks. As a result, it is predicted that the price will be uncompetitive and will not be available for sale. Despite the Tasman test car being spotted in the US, it seems unlikely to be released any time soon.
@pstarke1066Ай бұрын
Like the Hyundai Santa Cruz, if Kia produces the Tasman at its U.S. factory, tariff issues will disappear.

Why would someone test endurance of a pickup truck with no cargo in the bed?

Because North America is likely the biggest market for trucks in the world and they're mostly for looks. Half these idiots commute in gas guzzling trucks and constantly cry about the cost😂
