@@RePlayQthere's only so much people can do for you. He offered every bit of help and every single time he was shot down. @RePlayQ
@RePlayQ 6 ай бұрын
@@drboi7199 im not claiming that he has to spend 24/7 having to help, but people need to realize that those with depression and suicidal ideation don’t necessarily behave like everyone else. It’s very common for those with depression to deny help, but you have to realize that the call itself was the cry. Also, hypersexualization is common amongst depressed and isolated people, just as self harm and drug addiction is more common. Just… in general… you can’t expect people asking for help with depression and suicide to sound like someone asking for help with their homework or a ride to work. It’s like, people want to help people with depression, but as soon as they show symptoms they don’t care anymore. Imagine having a friend take care of you if you break both your legs, but when they notice you can’t walk they don’t want to help anymore.

The fact that you typed “love that he tries to reach out to his dick cousin” just shows your utter incompetence in the face of this comment section. There is physically no conceivable method to “reach out” to any phallic object as you so crudely put it. The man in the video clearly is using a long distance communication device to speak with his family member. But obviously you wouldn’t be able to pick up on that.
@larkohiya
@larkohiya Жыл бұрын
Something about him limiting the conversation to only what he is comfortable with is kinda dehumanizing and makes it so that the person on the phone reaching out is constantly denied and belittled from his perspective. Even if others think he is being "weird" it doesn't help to be a dick about it. Guy on the phone is being anxious and lonely, not a dick like the main character.

@@larkohiya The flower guy immediately tried to see how the person on the phone feels and, upon hearing he is lonely, responds by offering to keep him company. The phone person responds with an indirect refusal because he doesn’t want to be comforted or helped. He just wants to complain that he isn’t in a relationship. Recognizing this, the flower guy decides he’d rather spend time with people who want his company and thus hangs up. I don’t see any bad behavior there.

Ah, the "current" year, where it's "weird" for a person to lament being without a significant other on the holiday of love. Though more likely, you only think it's weird for a straight man to dare not be happy with being alone. If the cousin was actually gay, or a wonan, complaining about their lack of a valentine, then it would be okay.
@PrimetimeX
@PrimetimeX Жыл бұрын
@@jamesmcdonnell2455You are literally Elliot lmao. Instead of calling your cousin to complain and then when offered a friendly bit of quality time you reject it because of sexual insecurities, why not think positively and be with loved ones? It is VERY weird if a man, woman, or homo called me up and was being a downer on Valentine's Day because they were depressed and alone. I would see it as pathetic and there are so many comedy parodies of women being desperate and alone on Valentine's Day too. Get a gf or maybe just try to fix your insecurities. Nobody cares that you are alone in February or anytime of year, except for you. So stop feeling so bad about yourself, that negativity is visible from miles away and will repel any woman who might actually like you.

I wouldn't call anything he said disrespectful, but it is pretty clear this fictional character has some pretty warped views, if not full-on mental-health issues [beyond normal depression]. I could definitely understand if you meant disrespectful in an unintentional way.)

@@GeorgeN-ATX Intention doesn't matter when it comes to matters of respect. @GeorgeN-ATX
@GeorgeN-ATX Жыл бұрын
@@Dogeathotdog1 Of course I agree that certain behaviors shouldn't be tolerated regardless of whether the person didn't intend to be disrespectful, I just personally wouldn't call it disrespect since the way I tend to think of the word disrespect, it requires intention to disrespect. Similar to how I think of the word rude, except with rude I would still consider something to be rude if there wasn't intention but there was [usually willful] ignorance in how their behavior may be understood. So rude sort-of bridges the gap between how I think of the meanings of the words "disrespectful" & "thoughtless". Language is of course constantly changing & I genuinely believe everyone has a slightly different understanding of what nearly every word means from everyone else. Communication then to me is only really possible if we make certain we have a decent understanding of how the other person defines the words we're both using & vice-versa.

30 years ago or so now, someone wrote in to Miss Manners complaining about doing all the polite social interactions that used to be considered standard because they wanted to spend all their time on the dating scene looking for a spouse. Miss Manners pointed out that if you visit your aunt in the hospital, she introduces you to her nice single doctor. If you volunteer at the animal shelter, you meet people who also like animals. If you help the older neighbor across the street, they tell you about their best friend's grandchild who will be moving to town next week and needs someone to show them around. So Teddy is much better positioned than Elliot to get those opportunities and, since he doesn't come out with something toxic every every 15 minutes, he's more likely to be seen as a solid prospective partner. Elliot is shooting himself in the foot in more than one way.

That’s actually a great flower arrangement too. Teddy must get more ass than a toilet. His grandpa and friends have literal centuries of combined experience at rizz, and they’ve taught all of their wisdom to Teddy, like a young padawan being tutored by a whole team of Jedi masters.

Boundaries are so important. Im always trying to find good things to do with myself despite being single (volunteer work, babysitting, etc). Spending too much time with people who just mope about their own singleness all the time makes it hard to see past that to the beauties of life. Im trying to find the balance between being there for my friends and not letting them bring me down.

it comes from the stereotype that newer generation males tend to take the characteristics of a previous generation and fuse it with our generation's and often times the kids come out very formal, polite, but without a lot of the backwardness that precious generati9ns can carry

Old people have a different culture as well as a more relaxed, slow way of living. Rely less on things like social media, more on interacting in person. They can be more up tight when faced with the more lax attitude towards certain subjects today, but it will come off as more polite especially in the face of nice guy Elliott (rogers)
