the way he talked about "chads" "stacy's" and "normies" seriously outside of the internet was quite... something.
@Wandergirl1083 жыл бұрын
In that sense, he kinda reminds me of…not ME, exactly, but of something that happened in my childhood, actually. I guess it happens a lot for people on the spectrum: A group of people around us talk about a joke like it's a real thing, and we internalize it and miss the underlying fact that it's a joke. Led to me throwing a rock at a friend's bike and damaging it, because I thought us girls were going to throw rocks at the guys and was genuinely surprised when both sides immediately turned on me for doing what I thought we were doing. From the outside, we of course look completely absurd and/or crazy, but we didn't get the joke, we thought it was real and acted accordingly. Not saying murdering people because of that is excusable, just that talking about chads and stacys unironically makes sense from that perspective.

There is a strange belief that going into the army will cure any psychological problem you have. I’m sure it helps people whose main problem is they need discipline, even regimentation - but there are some people who will crack under the same conditions. Perhaps if Alex hadn’t tried and failed in the army, he’d never have hit the depths he did.
@KFrost-fx7dt3 жыл бұрын
As a matter of fact I did just that. I thought the military would help me gain social confidence, and it did. I expected discipline, structure, and to have goals that I could reach. That's how the recruiters sell it, after all. In reality being in the military is one big mind game where you are set up to fail so that you are forced to rely on your team and your command. It's not a self-help program.

Like Paul Bernardo, he will almost certainly have his parole application revoked each and every time. One of the many tragic things about this case is that had he sought some counselling and learned social skills, he may not have acted out his anger like this and those 10 innocent people would be alive and the 16 injured wouldn’t be literally scarred for life.

The legal standard of a plea of "guilty" is: The process by which a person admits "criminal liability" to an offence charged resulting in a conviction being entered and the forfeiting of a trial. Nothing in the above says anything about feeling remorse. Asking someone how they plead is paramount to asking admission of if they broke the laws being charged. I was in the same Gr 8 class as this guy. There was definitely something wrong with his head. He was in special needs and had a "fear of girls" ie if a female student walk too near him or said hi to him he would fake cry. Apparently, while in grade 3, some other kid told him "girls gonna hurt you!" as a joke and that stuck with him. Interestingly he's not afraid of female teachers, only girls of similar age. There were other guys who asked him why was he so afraid of girls and he genuinely thought they would hurt him. It was real messed up.

@@thebluemorpho2962 I’ve watched a lot of interrogation videos but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the question posed in that exact way. I remember this, it was so tragic. I grew up quite near here and I thank you for enlightening me on the details that either I missed in the news or it hadn’t been reported… I was very familiar with the Elliott Rodgers case and had no idea the two were connected - I kinda get the feelings of not having a mate and looking at others couples wondering why it wasn’t you, I think that’s normal, but those feelings that pass - these men took it to a whole other level blaming society. Taking other peoples lives for their own insecurities that manifested into pure evil is one of the most selfish reasons for mass murder I have ever encountered… may the victims of both cases rest in peace 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
