@@snapple5094 Naw, this one is way better with the orchestra playing with them. As a matter of fact, this arrangement is the only way this song should be performed live. It's perfect, the violins add so much more emotion to the song.

Of all the performances of Dustland,... THIS one is THE BEST❣️It's where, just a few years ago (approx. 2020), I fell in love with what [I thought] was this NEW BAND... lol THE INTENSITY... THE UTTER PASSION... I was driving my new car on I-40 thru Durham, NC TO wilmington... with my 1st ever computerized sound system... from off my phone (on youtube)... AS HIGH AS THE VOLUMN WOULD GO... for 3 STRAIGHT HOURS.... THEN, once home, was able to read about WHY he had written this song, and the story of his dear and ailing Mom... And his Dad... IT TOUCHED ME SO VERY MUCH... IT WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY TOP 10 FAVS... I'm 62 and I think music of this caliber is right in there with SHAKEY GRAVES, PINK FLOYD, BOB SEGER, the early ROLLING STONES, YES, COUNTING CROWS, QUEEN, THE EAGLES, CCR, THE BLACK CROWES and all of the groups whose song writing truly told a grand story... JUST LOVE IT❣️❣️❣️ And I FELT IT...

I thought this was commonly known, but judging by the comments maybe it isn't. He wrote this song about his mom who died of cancer. She's Cinderella, the one he implores to not go to sleep because everybody needs her. It's heartbreaking, and that's why his performance is so emotional. This song came out around the same time my dad died of cancer, and it broke me. I've seen it live twice, and it's very gut wrenching.

Greatest live performance I’ve ever seen. I have never had this feeling from music I wasn’t present for. They completely rocked me. Through the headphones plugged into my ipad. I felt almost devastated by the time they faded out with that little soft guitar. David Letterman should have gave these guys some more respect than that. I can’t even imagine what it would have been like to witness this specific performance in person. I am still lowkey shook, and I’ve been watching this video since it was first uploaded. I am a hiphop artist, so rock and roll was never my lane, but i respect good music, and The Killers are the best band of my lifetime.

Not an overstatement at all. One of the best I've ever seen. Really amazing.
@MonaRoo883 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing about letterman. What was that stupid joke about renting a van? Maybe I missed something. Conan is way more respectful. But letterman has always been a prick. I’ve watched this so many times and I skip the letterman part so he doesn’t taint this absolutely stunning performance.

This is why the killers is my favourite band. I've never seen a similar performance from anyone. I think there is nobody that could play a piece like that, live. I still cannot believe it, when he says "out here the good girls die" and there is a little silence of the instruments my skin still freezing like the first time I heard it. And of course I'm still listening at 2020 and forever

I remember, by pure chance, flicking channels and landing on this late one night a few years ago, and I remember the hairs standing up on the back of my neck and the tears in my eyes at the pure power of the emotion and energy behind this very, very special performance.. these guys are the real deal, and will be some of the very few popular musicians from this time that history will look kindly upon... there is so, so much superficial trash out there, but music is still alive.

O___O That happened at Letterman ? O___O It must be the best live rendition of DFT I've heard, ever. Better that the Royal Albert Hall. Jesus. I hope the audience enjoyed it properly, although I doubt it. That song may be Flower's masterpiece. The build up is fabulous. What happens at 3:30 remains to this day one of the most powerful thing I've heard in a song.
