By far my favorite Christmas song. The song feels personal and universal at the same time. It doesn’t use typical holiday season tropes, but captures real emotions people feel around the holidays. Human connection, vulnerability, longing, and nostalgia for simpler times. I can’t help but cry when I listen.

If you only listen to Killers songs and never videos you are doing yourself an injustice... each video makes the tracks that much more powerful. I love how every video has a lot of effort and thought put into it, as opposed to some shitty green screen or bitches on a beach. I remember back in 2004 a local radio DJ predicted The Killers would remain relevant and solid for years to come. I'm glad to say that a decade late it is still the case.

The annoying thing about The Killers is, that they're one of the few bands in history that are able to be composed of only amazing and awesome artists, each one for himself, and still come together for an amazing synergy of a band that does everything perfect. The world didn't witness such a thing since Deep Purple and it won't witness another thing like it for a long time.

This is a sacred song to me, it helped me in a really tough time in which I couldn't see meaning in my life, and I was just a kid. It made me see the value of myself, my family and the world. Right now I'm about to turn 18 and I don't think I would be the person I am nowadays without the values I got from TK songs, back then they were my only friends, those ones to give you words of wisdom when you are feeling lost.

No more trouble in this town Silent night for a change A brand new year coming up ahead You know it's been so long since I rang one in I close my eyes Think about the path I took Just when I think these times have gotten the best of me I can see my mother in the kitchen My father on the floor Watching television, It's A Wonderful Life Cinnamon candles burning, snowball fights outside Smile below each nose and above each chin Stomp my boots before I go back in I wasted my wishes on Saturday nights Oh, what I would give for just one more I'd soften my heart and shock the world Do you hear my voice? Do you know my name? Light my way Lift my head Light my way I can see my mother in the kitchen My father on the floor Watching television, It's A Wonderful Life Cinnamon candles burning, snowball fights outside Smile below each nose and above each chin Family all together, presents piled high Frost on all the windows, what a wonderful night Cinnamon candles burning, snowball fights outside Smile below each nose and above each chin So happy they found me, love was all around me Stomp my boots before I go back in

It's about trying not to let your shortcomings or failings spread to the people around you. The guy in the video wanted to sort himself out before he reunited with his family, rather than going straight to them for help.
@TheHeimo69 Жыл бұрын
@@monty6491 - I agree - there is so much to get by noticing the lyrics and the symbolic. And that line, means alot to me too, but I think, I get a bit different meaning out if it…. to stomp off all the dirt and the old wrong “path” - and get back on the right track , leaving the past behind. Forgiveness - forgive oneself and move on - clean and free. 🥰 I love that God is such a loving present reality in the video. ☝🏼🥰

Great to hear the excellent original. The line about stomping your boots means shaking off past mistakes and wrong turns. Beautiful childhood memories: you can picture the mum baking, the dad on the floor fixing the fairy lights, the children playing, the whole family watching TV surrounded by piles of presents.
