*LYRICS* 💙 *RUNAWAYS* 💙 Blonde hair blowing in the summer wind A blue-eyed girl playing in the sand I'd been on her trail for a little while But that was the night that she broke down and held my hand A teenage rush She said, "Ain't we all just runaways? We got time" But that ain't much We can't wait till tomorrow You got to know that this is real, baby, why you want to fight it? It's the one thing you can choose, oh! We got engaged on a Friday night I swore on the head of our unborn child That I could take care of the three of us But I got the tendency to slip when the nights get wild It's in my blood She said she might just runaway somewhere else Someplace good We can't wait til tomorrow You got to know that this is real, baby, why you want to fight it? It's the one thing you can choose Let's take a chance baby, we can't lose Ain't we all just runaways? I knew it when I met you, I'm not going to let you runaway I knew it when I held you, I wasn't letting go! We used to look at the stars and confess our dreams Hold each other till the morning light We used to laugh, now we only fight Baby are you lonesome now? At night I come home after they go to sleep Like a stumbling ghost, I haunt these halls There's a picture of us on our wedding day I recognize the girl but I can't settle in these walls We can't wait till tomorrow Oh, we're caught up in the appeal baby, why you wanna hide it? It's the last thing on my mind (Why you want to hide it?) I turn the engine over and my body just comes alive Ain't we all just runaways? I knew it when I met you, I'm not going to let you runaway I knew it when I held you, I wasn't letting go! Oh! Oh! Oh! Ain't we all just runaways? Yeah, runaways Ain't we all just runaways? Popular music is in a bad place when a wonderful song like this only reaches #78 on the Billboard Top 100. Seriously. I did not expect an 80's throwback gem like this to top the charts. But only #78? From a platinum-selling band? Come on now. ☮

Specifically Bruce Springsteen. If someone said this was a Springsteen cover I don't think anyone would question it haha

Thank goodness. We need more 80s music. Seriously. When I hear this song, I think of Asia's first album in 1982... Heat of the Moment. I swear some of the guitar licks and settings are the same. Good stuff. Hard to sit still listening to this. And don't let anyone sneak up behind you, as you might punch them by accident!!!

Seriously genuine Springsteen vibes with this one. No doubt Bruce it's a major inspiration to Flowers. Several Killers songs capture that feeling, but this one especially. These guys would be ICONS 40 years ago.

@@teddymax_ You've seen Springsteen with them on "Dustland Fairytale" right? In addition to my daughter being a fan in jr. high, it was the collaboration with Springsteen that caused me to become a Killers fan.
@piyushan_abeynayake Жыл бұрын
@@lisawisniewski5902 Agree that was an awesome collaboration between these two great artists. Also check out on KZbin a clip of the The Killer's Madison Square Garden concert in which Bruce Springsteen made an appearance to sing "Dustland" as well as Badlands and Born to Run. Absolutely phenomenal!
