From 2:15 tip the end. You feel it in you heart and soul. Elvis was the King for a reason. Not many can cover a song that equal to the original band/performer. Few can do better. And then there is Elvis who makes you forget about the original version. He’s just another level.

Hope I managed to enlighten you a bit, and may I suggest ‘Unchained Melody’ and ‘Hurt’ to sample a bit of Elvis’ opera chops?

You know that Whitney Houston's mother Cissy was one of his back up singers? You should see the interview when as a little girl Whitney met Elvis. He was executive producer of his own music. In the "Elvis" movie it shows him putting his band together when he opened in Vegas. It is amazing how he hand selected everyone in his group, and all will tell you he was wonderful to work with. Some time I hope you'll react to one of his rehearsals, "Elvis Talks to the Sweet Inspirations/Words", (1970,), his rehearsals were almost as much fun as his concerts, he put so much into them, like "Elvis in the studio" 1970. I appreciate your reaction.

I recommend you watch the original stage performance, rather than this RPO version. This version has been “sanitized”. In the actual raw performance, Elvis actually makes a minor error in lyrics, but covers beautifully without missing a beat. He also adds a humorous line, “If this suit wasn’t too tight!”, which is edited out here. It’s always best to watch his performances as originally done. Thanks for sharing!

Elvis was a great gospel singer. Gospel was his favorite genre, and all the Grammy's he won were for gospel. React to "How Great Thou Art". For a bit of a change, look up "Why Me Lord" I believe at Memphis. Elvis turns the stage over to one of his backup singers, J. D. Sumner, the bass singer. J. D. had the lowest vocal ever recorded on an Elvis song "Way On Down". If you react to that one, listen to the very end, that's where it is.

I think this, and all the other songs with the Philharmonic Orchestra is a great tribute to both Elvis and the Philharmonic Orchestra. I do like reading other comments, and I saw a lot of negative reactions as to the Philharmonic, dubbing in Elvis singing, being not as good as Elvis is original. Of course, it’s not. But it does give it a separate sound, but it’s just fabulous. As far as the video performance, yes, this was his original, live Vegas performance. And I’m glad they left out the stage humor because this wasn’t a stage performance. I think it was very well done, and it was a great tribute for a fabulous entertainer. What would absolutely be awesome is of Elvis would’ve been alive to perform with them live and he would have.
@lindasuarez1050 Жыл бұрын
The music behind this is not the stage version, but rather a studio version with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. I hate when people “remaster” Elvis’s stuff and try to put music that doesn’t belong. One of his most iconic lines in this song is “Baby, baby, I’d get down on my knees for you … if this suit wasn’t too tight.” That is totally cut from this version … because the stage version simply is not the studio version. Elvis was a flawless singer at a time when there was no autotune … you can’t “remaster” the “master.” IMO, remastering bastardizes Elvis’s music … and I don’t like it. But nonetheless, great reaction as always. Much love ❤️

To his Christmas music (best selling in the world) to his "comeback" in 68 and most of the music he did the las 7 years he lived 70-77. I can recommend the newer release "way down in the jungle room" which has remastered songs from his last two sessions in 76 .

you need to absolutely try the video of Elvis performing Stuck on You in 1960. It was from the Welcome Home Elvis special that Frank Sinatra hosted when Elvis returned home from the Army. Really shows his onstage charisma after not performing for a few years while he was overseas. Another fact.. that TV special was the last time he would perform live until his 1968 comeback special which I also recommend reacting to some of those videos.. especially the outtakes. 70's Vegas Elvis is great, but 60's Elvis is a whole other fun thing!

Thank you for your reaction. As for the RPO involvement it is sometimes a hit and sometimes a miss. The original performance with the original background singers and the original instrumentation of the orchestra and band is excellent. The RPO instrumentation is too busy. It drowns out things. I don't want to be too negative. The RPO does it well with Burning Love and I've Got A Thing About You Baby and a few others. But for the most part I'd say leave the originals alone. It would be good for you too to hear/see the original. You don't necessarily have to feature it on your podcast unless you want to. (You missed the original ending).

1935 on January 8 a huge star was born, but sadly in 1977 on august 16 we lost a great musician, a amazing singer, but we also lost a amazing humanitarian that helped so many people that he did not even know. Today over 46 years after his death, people are still calling Elvis the King of Rock'n'Roll (he said that Chubby Checker was the one that should be called King of Rock'n roll, if any human should), Elvis didn't like that title and he believed that the only King was God and he actually told this to his fans several times, he said: I believe that God is the only true king, sometimes he added Jesus Christ. I think that Elvis is and only the king of Rock'n roll, he is the king of music because he can sing very well in any genre, but what do you think, is he good enough to be called a music king? Elvis was really in my mind, the King of GOSPEL and other music, no one does it better then him, he is best known for making Rock'n roll famous, so he was called The King of Rock'n roll, but he never liked that people called him that, he repeatedly stopped fans who said that he was the king of rock'n roll, telling them: I'm just an entertainer and singer, God is the only true King (sometimes he also said Jesus Christ is the only King)... He also never liked the "so called joke" Elvis the Pelvis, he loved Jokes, but that was for him very hurtful to hear people say, or write. Elvis was born in the poor part of Tupelo Mississippi (in a shotgun house) and it was mainly Afro Americans living there, at the place where Elvis family lived there only lived 3 more white families, the rest was colored people, his family was dirt poor until he became an artist after singing in a mainly colored peoples church during his childhood. Did you know that he had several friends that where Afro Americans, one of his friends where James Brown, yes THAT James Brown (The King of Soul), another artist was B.B King, yes that B.B King... He also was a good friend with Mohamed Ali, yes the GREATEST boxer of all time, he even had a Robe made for him, but it was to much bling on it so Ali wouldn't where it more then one time to a fight. He really admired Martin Luther King very much, Elvis felt that all people are equal, unfortunately he never got to meet him, that would have created to much problems for both of them at that time. He had several medical problems, Glaucoma, (Insomnia) sleeping problems, irritable bowel syndrome, things that affected his real life and made him need medication to function. Yes, he took medicines that today are considered to be called drugs, but at that time doctors prescribed it to him and to ordinary people, they did not know of the problems it could give people (side effects). He never took any so-called street drugs, but unfortunately he did not realize that those medications would be a problem for him, he thought that they where ordinary medicine because his doctor prescribed them to him and to everyone else that needed it. Many out of his relatives died at a relatively young age, so even if he wouldn't have the medication, he might have died at about the same age. He could never be alone and thus himself, at that time the word superstar did not exist, so nothing could prepare him for that kind of life. Did you know that a big group of white people actually smashed his records and wanted to ban his music, just because they called the music he did so called N... music, that is so painful to think that some people actually can think like that, skin color is just color and nothing more, when will people start to realize that? There are some videos of when Elvis joking and messing up, he loved to joke around and pretend that he did not have control, but he had total control, he actually conducted his musicians and back up choirs all the time ! He is the only person to have 2 records gone to sell Gold and 2 to to sell Platinum since he died. Elvis is also in almost every genre of Music Hall of Fame (5 that I'm sure of Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Gospel, Rockabilly and Rhythm and Blues), if Gospel is a genre in Music Hall of fame, then he should be in there to, but no one else is in more then perhaps 2 genres. Not bad for someone who failed in his music class (in school, he got a F), he also never took a single singing lesson, yes he sang in church so perhaps he learned a little there, right? Something else that people tend to overlook: He always conducts his musicians and backup singers, he never gets credit for being able to doing that. Imagen you are a singer, you have great Musicians, you have great backup singers, no Guest Artists, no Auto tune, no Lip singing and no Fireworks, now all is about your skill, could you handle that pressure? At the time when Elvis started to perform, Auto tune did not exist yet and when it became available, then he still did not use it, he did not need to, he always sang so that you could hear every word that he sang, the Fans always felt that he sang to just you ! That is what Elvis did in over 1600 concerts (during his 20 years as an artist), despite having problems with his health, like his Glaucoma, the headlights must have hurt his eyes like crazy. He sang over 800 songs, I wonder how he could remember them all, he never wrote a song himself, so he had to remember other peoples lyrics, well that is amazing in it self. The fact that he had Glaucoma must have been difficult being in the headlights all the time, that could be why he sometimes closes his eyes, but also sometimes squinting! This unfortunately made him temporary blind after the shows, that is why they led him of the stage and into his car, that is something that not many people knew about Elvis. Elvis suits was made of 100% Polyester, or 100 cotton (I'm not sure witch one), it was originally a karate suit, it was very light, but it was hot, so it made him sweat a lot, he got some bad press about that, but if you give it all then you will sweat, it should be positive, right? A important fact about Elvis success is his guitarist James Burton's sound, it was a big fact that made him sound different, naturally his voice is the main factor for his success to, I think both things played a crucial role in his success... About the deep base voiced JD Sumner (a member of The Stamps Quartet) he is a Basso Profundo, I think it's called that, it is the deepest base singer there is. A video about him helping others, look at this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaOtYpZvqdJgeZI Elvis made a show where all the money went to build the Memorial after Pearl Harbor, he talked to the nations about taking the Polio vaccine, Elvis took the first injection himself, he helped by donating a big amount of money to St Jude hospital, they fight against cancer (especially children with), he gave away loads of jewelry, gave away cars, he even gave away some houses to total strangers. Elvis started an organization that helps people to get out of Homelessness (Presley Charitable Foundation), this organization helps people even now close to 50 years after he passed away. A thing that you perhaps did not know: Elvis ALMOST NEVER did a show OUTSIDE OF USA, yes he did sing a few times in Canada: 4 concerts, 2 times in Toronto, 1 time in Ottawa and 1 time in Vancouver (during the 50:s?). When the Aloha From Hawaii (Live in Honolulu 1973) was showed it had close to 1.5 Billion viewers from around the whole world and 3.7 billion people lived on earth at this time, so it was close to 1/3 of all of the population on the earth that viewed the show, it was the first time a single artist was shown LIVE around the globe. Video of Mohammad Ali speech after Elvis died: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoCbfKSVaLCHr6s I have to say that I loved being at Graceland and seeing his home, first we were at the shotgun house in Tupelo Mississippi where he lived in his early years, he was born there ! You don't have a guide taking you on a tour, you can go all over yourself, but stay outside of the ropes and do not attempt to go upstairs, the outside is huge, so is the house, but you don't realize that from the front of the house. I don't regret for a second that I was there, or that I stood at his grave site and said out loud that this is for the humanitarian Elvis/the person/the man and then I gave him a military salute, the others there just looked at me and asked if I didn't like his music. So I told them that he was clearly one of the best singers and artists ever, but I loved his big heart more, he helped so many people without getting credit for it, he didn't want the credit of helping others, he did it out of love and respect and to me that is what true charity is all about. This PLACE (GRACELAND) should be a protected part of music history and also American history forever, I think that people will keep coming for years and years and years to come ! Elvis did lots of things for America to, he helped in a big way to avoid getting Polio (he took the vaccine in a TV show and that made the interest for taking the vaccine to go up from 0,6 % all the way up to 80 % in 6 months), so in 6 months he got 79.4 % more of the American people take the Polio vaccine and shortly after it was eradicated from USA, he also helped in the fight to defeat Cancer by helping to build up St Jude's children cancer treatment clinic by donating a huge amount of money to them, he also helped to build the Memorial over Pearl Harbor and many other things!

If you really want to hear the power of his voice, listen to him. Do a song called hurt and have you heard his arrangement of American trilogy? You will not be disappointed

This Royal P. Orchesta was added to the song in the late 90s or early 2000. I'd like you to react to I'LL BE THERE, by Elvis. Thanks !

This version you could see a copy of things were muted. Where Elvis at the end motion the band the end, his voices was muted it lifted out. And after he said “I’d get form on my knees for you, he’d slip in; “if this suit wasn’t too tight”, I could see his lips but they lifted out or muted him only for this album. These were his own stage performance add ins. For the album I thing they were removed.

This man is not a result of mere genetics...God did this. If you want to get blown out of the park, please play: Hurt, Forever My Darling, Rags to Riches and Elvis Acapella It does not get better than Elvis.

Great reaction on Elvis!! It Would be great to see you guys react to some documentaries Elvis the man did so much more then sing and dance ** ( Elvis and the black community part 1&2 that echo will never die ) there not that long like 12mins, I think there nice to watch so you can appreciate and learn more on what Elvis went through and it will answer some of your questions about him There’s a lot of celebrities in it BB King, Sammy Davis Jr., Stevie Wonder, Serena Wiliams, Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Whitney Houston,- fun fact Whitney Houston’s mom Cissy Houston was one of Elvis‘s background singers, You won’t regret it!!! I look forward to your reactions !!! ** Elvis Presley ( King Of Kindness) Who else can say they helped end POLIO… OR helped raise money and gave of his own money to build the first well known Hospital, ST JUDE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL 🏥 ** Elvis Presley ( A Generous Heart) ** Elvis Presley ( Gave Away 200 Cadillacs ) You guys are the best and thank you for keeping Elvis alive!!! 👑

I have to agree with commenter @jul_bug22 that while the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra might be a standout on its own, this time it certainly didn't add to an ELVIS performance. In all throughout my years as a fan, it was clear ELVIS had a uncanny knowledge and a musically precise "ear" to know EXACTLY how he wanted the sound to be. And I hate that someone who thought they knew better would hijack what HE was satisfied with. An analogy is having an attorney draw up a will or last testament, and no one adhering to it's terms, after you're gone. I do appreciate all of his songs and performances, and it's wonderful he had so much to give us, his fans.

This was done something like 40+ years after his death! They actually did a concert tour as well... don't know if it was with this orchestra or not. But all the living band members and backup singers played and sang along with the concert footage of Elvis singing displayed on a big screen behind them. I believe it was a sold out tour (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). What other artist do you know would have a highly successful concert tour decades after their death? Just shows you how big Elvis was and still is. Btw, I much prefer the original performance. There are several to choose from but the one where he songs "I'd get down on my knees for you, if this suit wasn't too tight" is the one I'd recommend.

You mentioned the backup singers. He had J. D Sumner on stage with him. J. D. Is in Guinness book of world records as the lowest male vocal artist. He’ll show up in gospel songs a lot that Elvis always included in his performances.

Just found you through your Elvis reactions and love watching people discovering Elvis 💙 I’ve kept quiet on all other videos but I can’t on this one. Original Vegas version is so much better. You can hear Elvis’ raw talent. This track dulls Elvis’ fabulous voice in my opinion. You really should take a look at Vegas 1970 live Love Me Tender to see a completely different side to Elvis 💙 Enjoy the Elvis ride. You will not be disappointed !!
