Easy to understand why it’s called the duke of tone as grave just a great tone, was impressed how it brought to life the single coils but for me it was really the Humbers in the Sire and the P90’s that really gave it great warmth. Cracker of a pedal 💁🏻‍♂️

I really like that kind of overdrive! Maybe I'm just really used to it but it always seems to work for me in any band situation I've been in over the past 10-15 years or so! Thanks Rob...hope you're well mate!!

O.k. if I'm going to continue watching these reviews, I'm going to need a few terms defined- what does "woofy" mean, what does 'honky" mean in this context, and what does "pokey" refer to?

I translate ‘woofy’ as bass focus, ‘honky’ as mid focused, and ‘pokey’ as treble focus.

I would’ve thought woofy means lack of tightness/focus in the bottom end. Loose or overbearing bass response

For that I can highly recommend Rodenberg OD's. I've got the Shakedown Drive and although it's more of a TS voiced OD, it is super flexible and can be stacked. There's a few different options from them too and very well made.

It's 'nice' (how's that for a descriptive word 🤔), no issues with the price, but I'll happily stick with my Protein. To sit on a waiting list for 4+ years is just madness for an od pedal when there's so much that's good out there. It's a bit like paying full dollar for a Klon, when the market has been saturated with clones to the point that you can even pick cheap clones up for ~$50 that sounds perfectly good or you could just go for an archer or tumnus. SURE they aren't 100% the same but definitely close enough, if that's what you're looking for! The fact is literally nobody would know or care at a gig & similarly virtually nobody would listen to an album, even on high end gear and think that's not a real KoT/Klon. The marketing and hype in some instances is just way over the top (to say the least). Notwithstanding, people do get sucked into the nonsense. However, when you drop the comparison vid I'll be watching, not with the intent to buy, but just for the fun of it. Btw... I really don't like the way 12 is well below unity gain, seemed as if that was 2+. There's no reason for that and it's almost a design flaw, if not the original then certainly as we see here. Of course it's going to be expensive- did ppl really think it wouldn't be? Sounds great though- let's be real, all the high-end stuff sounds great- too bad it's out of reach for 99.9% of us. Will this pedal be different- I don't expect it to be but, we'll see. You guys need to check out the Caline Fuzzy Face- now there's a pedal I can afford. Just bought one, waiting on it to get here- already disappointed with it. LOL- I checked it out online after buying it- yeah, I know, supposed to be the other way around but- and it turns out, the octave feature on it apparently does basically nothing. But hey- you still get a 40-dollar fuzz face so, it's worth it, I think. What I'm really after is the glassy cleans you get when you turn your volume down on the guitar or, the more tamed overdrive sounds you can get out of them- I think they sound great used that way. But you can always crank it and get that Hendrix fuzz going.

We’ve got a LOT of Caline videos on our channel…they make great stuff!! Looks like the Duke of Tone will be around US$150, and around €220…here in Australia it’ll be around $300! Not cheap but also not super expensive considering what people pay for a King/Prince of Tone on the secondhand market! It’s about the same price as a Prince of Tone ordered directly from AnalogMan…it’ll be interesting to see if MXR can keep up with the demand! The Australian distributor told me they are getting absolutely slammed with orders!!

@@TSFAHTPS Yeah, that's not too bad- like you said, not cheap but, not super expensive. I noticed you guys had several Caline vids- that's how I found you, researching one of their pedals. I like their stuff- most of it, hopefully I like the Fuzzy Face as well. My first fuzz pedal- didn't want to spend too much until I figure out if it's for me or not. I do have a digital version of a Big Muff made by Boss- which most ppl don't know they even make but- I don't care for it. It's one effect in a very, very complicated multi-effect unit they made called the PW-10 wah modeler pedal. It has like 7-8 drives in it, voice box, univibe, 3-4 different wahs, noise gate, boost- fold out nail clipper, and a bottle opener on it. But the controls adjust in very discreet little steps- like there's no gain, then there's too much gain- and there's no in between
