The one thing I keep coming back to is how clever (and powerful) a writing choice it was for this story to not be in Gen or Attolia's POV. Such a good book, and I love how much you've put into this video and the importance of the little details from the plot. 💖

@@NovelteaCorner awww thank you, Stef. I think it’s natural at the beginning to wish you were getting their pov and be like “who is this guy and why should I care” but it illustrates things that would have been impossible otherwise. ♥️♥️♥️

I absolutely adore the banter between Eugenides and Attolia.

Costis, my love! I love his worrying about the ten gold cups. My absolute favourite thing that this book does on a series level is round out Attolia as a character. In earlier books she's somewhat positioned as an antagonist, but in this book we have multiple characters that are ride-or-die Team Irene and it just makes me so happy.

The brothers' names from the audiobook- Sejanus sounds like Se-JAY-nus, and Dite sounds like Die-tee (like Erondite). I actually thought they were calling him Sir Janus and giving everything away (Janus being the Roman two-faced god of transitions).
They say Teleus like Te-LAY-us but that might be because otherwise it sounds too similar to Relius.

@ ok see I was literally having a crisis while filming because I was like “their names are spelled differently so I’m sure there’s a difference in pronunciation but my natural inclination is to pronounce them both the same.” 😅

This author is a Mastercraftperson. Wow, these books are intricately plotted. And that’s beside her whole “you can read these books in any order” part she puts at the front of her books. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN READ THEM IN ANY ORDER?!? How much more plotting did that take??? I can’t even wrap my mind around that part. It’s enough she plotted a five book series this well, but reading them in any order is just a wild assertion to make that usually denotes really simple stories, not Mensa level crafted Masterworks. In these days of “does anyone even edit anymore 600 pg. middle grade fantasy books” this series is an oasis in a very big desert.

@@marisagettas my sister read these books out of order. 🤭 Every line of each book is so purposeful. Truly brilliant levels of writing and editing. 🤩
